On the other hand - if they continued focusing on the hardcore gaming format, and also made a portable version which was 1:1 (aside perhaps from visuals, that would depend on hardware) this probably would do very well, OSRS android works fine. I think the mobile version they have now isn't a 1:1 portable experience but something a bit different from what I've heard, and being different could take away attention and resources.
Mobile gaming is not PC gaming. There are different expectations and mechanics surrounding them. Some are better suited for mobile, some are better suited for PC. FFXIV already has a mobile version, developed by a different studio. It should always remain separate from the main game. Mobile mechanics do not belong in PC games. I left other MMOs for FFXIV specifically because FFXIV lacks FOMO in comparison. If FFXIV goes in the direction of FOMO and mobile mechanics. I quit.

I don't think they will, and I sincerely hope they listen to the community and don't do these this. They're starting to turn the game around and improve things and I really hope they don't ruin it all. If any devs or community managers are listening, if they add these mobile elements to FFXIV, I'm out.
