I like the designs from the new dungeon coming in 7.4, and some of the dark horse gear, but for the most part I do have to agree that I dislike most of the dawntrail armor sets.

Only issue is no light saber arcadion or vanguard weapons, but More sci-fi weapons that come off as plastic toys. Howling blades weapon should have been used as a basis for cruiserweight weapons

While I'd love it, they probably wouldn't because they'd rather toss stuff like that into ultimate/relic.

One of the big things with a lot of the recent gear is that lost that Final Fantasy aesthetic and replaced it with just standard k-pop and streetwear. There have been plenty of modern or at least modern looking designs to gear in the franchise, but they always took those looks and made them their own with various embellishments. Now they just open a fast fashion website and reproduce things exactly as they are. This problem has seeped into even historical or fantasy looking gear. While you used to be able to spot a FF character a mile away from their aesthetic, everything is so boring and generic these days, at least in XIV, that it feels worse than it would be in other games.

Absolutely, yes. I actually don't mind the k-pop inspired set with the chains and stuff that we got for PvP currency so much. While it is straight up modern fashion it does still match a lot of sets quite well that we already have in the game and you can totally match them outside of their own sets. To me that is what defines a set that works and sadly that just isn't what we have been getting. Even the magitek and allagan inspired stuff has always been quite consistent and made to fit the overall style.

You have the right to not enjoy the new sets, but saying it’s bad is complete bs. They’re detailed, colorful and creative.

And now we’re waiting the glam restriction to disappear. So my take on you is, you’re a 40yo dude whining like a baby because you’re not creative at all with the insane amount of possible outfits you can and will be able to make coming with next patch.

What were you expecting from an expac being “tropical”? Dark edgy spiky armours? Because that’s what you want I guess? Or more boring ugly modern looking sets? Genuinely what were you expecting from a world inspired by Aztec/Maya civilisation? On top of some FF9 fan service?

Yes I call it “creative”. Specially with the more Spanish inspired outfits.
