Square Enix, if you are thinking about making any friends list changes, please let us have the option to not have others able to view World/Location.

I have come back to the game casually to try out Pilgrims Rest deep dungeon which involves going to a few worlds and on two separate occasions I have been contacted "What were you doing on world...", once from someone I once knew and on the other side too.

This game has many socially awkward or disturbed people who get jealous of their friend doing anything at all with someone else, its just driving me away from logging in at this point or trying to make friends at all.

I don't even go to social venues, I knew that was drama with them but the fact its spread like this is ridiculous.

I would probably just blacklist them, but I know they can still find your location in the player search, tho.

It's more like the entire friend list system has been outdated and creepy since ARR, and no idea if SE is interested in revamping them other than the offhand comments from LL in the recent few months. Yes, I find it baffling in 2025 that someone keeps me on the FL without my permission and I would be there forever even if I changed my mind, so I'm careful about asking others.

i think its fine to see the location of others... but its not fine to stay on their friendlist when you delete them on yours. it just gives the other one an illusion of a full friendlist without doing actually anything with these people

All we need is a "Show Offline" feature. Clean and simple.

Honestly this post is so relatable as I've had instances where I want to do my own thing but people i've known have been weird about me wanting to spend time I remember one friend getting mad if I ever raided or did the msq without them. (I've cut ties with them for obvious reasons as I don't really appreciate people behaving that entitled and petty towards me, it was also a constant thing where they acted very demeaning to me).

The friend system is outdated and doesn't even work on both ends when you delete them off your list... So where I've friended someone but realise yeah... no this person isn't someone i want even talk to, you can't really unadd them unless you ask.

Some features like appearing offline, friends not seeing location if you dont want them too, would be a good start that's for sure.

I think it is a feature of FFXI which is their own game so it might be a thing they can implement. Been a long time since was on XI but I am sure it is there.
