    It seems like it's time to remove the tome limits

    For a long time, the weekly tome limit has been in place to keep people playing daily/weekly content, but it just doesn't really make much sense anymore. You subscribe by the month, and get a lower charge for more months at a time. How does forcing people to play week to week just to keep up their gear make sense?
    Furthermore, it's always limited people to one or two classes to "main." The game has more than 20 classes. Let people actually work towards their gear at their own pace, let them play as many classes as they wish without arbitrary time gated gear and tome restrictions. Just get rid of this old holdover of 450 tomes a week.

    Yoshi-P literally just said in the last week that the entire point of the game is "to get 450 tomestones every week".

    Far from getting rid of it, he's considering letting you buy mounts and other reward with it "because not everyone is interested in item level" and worried that competitors might beat him to doing this so he didn't reveal more.

    FF14 was not the first MMO to put weekly stops to progression, and I doubt it will be the last. It's a common thing.

    In a sense it is protection from steamrolling the current hard content
    But having it in place for so long after it stops being relevant for the majority of players is annoying. It really should unlock on the next major patch

    Asking an MMO to remove its weekly prog caps is like asking a farmer if they want all of their potential crop for the year to magically appear in their barn on January 1st.

    The farmer will tell you, "sure, it'd be nice to have that influx of cash, but wouldn't most of it rot and go bad rather quickly? then i'd be stuck with a bunch of rotting vegetable and an ugly empty field all year."

    The MMO will tell you, "sure, it'd be nice for them to make all that progress, but wouldn't they burn through everything in a month and unsub? then i'd be stuck with a ton of lost profit and empty servers all patch."

    The 450 tome cap holds me back from playing, advancing and enjoying the game. I agree its time for it to get the boot.

    Firstly, this game is not a job (but it certainly is made to feel like one with all the lockouts).
    Secondly, Not being able to do anything productive because of weekly lockouts means that most will unsub as soon as they get bored anyways (which in my FC's experience is roughly 1-1/2 months after a major patch).

    Neither of these arguments are a good representation for why lockouts should remain.

    How does it hold you back?
    If you mean gear-wise, you can just get the crafted equipment and augment it. Which has the same itemlevel as the Mathematics gear and Heliometry Tomestones are more readily available since they don't have a weekly cap.

    I think in the .8 patches before a new tomestome tier comes out they could at least up the weekly cap as they are about to be obsolete anyway. Same goes for the weekly lookout on the Sandorian coins. No reason they couldn't have been unlocked this .8 patch.
