Guys deserve more beards, absolutely. I made the suggestion in another thread that beards could be added to the "Faces we wear" glam slot just so all characters could use them freely and we could start having variety. There is already a moustache and beard glam in the Mogstation from an old Starlight event, so there is a start.
Personally my "why not let ME have this" that I've been asking for is to unlock the multiple gender- and race-locked hairstyles that only male Miqo'te can use that have black ears and/or spots. Only in a few of their vanilla options. If the devs could make the ear tips a toggle like certain facial details or just let others use those hairstyles, I would never take it off. They look extra good with the lion tails.
I've been asking for this since ARR so good luck lol

my dream would be that instead of new races, they go back and add more customization options to all the current races. i'd really like more face types, ears, etc. it's always nice to have more options!

I just want more fur and hair colour options for my Hrothgal (whole colourwheel pls), but really, the customization options are terribly limited in all aspects and for all races. That entire system needs an overhaul, decoupling hair/ears/horns/etc. from the faces, giving everyone all sliders (buff slider for all! also butt slider), and really, 4-5 options per setting is very little.
Also, can I please have a fluffy long tail option? I miss my fluffy Miqo'tail.

If Highlanders could have eyebrows I'd immediately make one. I just haven't found a hairstyle that covers the non-eyebrows and that I like enough at the same time, so I never made any... it should be so simple to make a toggle for it too (once they figure out how to give us more slots, which I think is the issue they mentioned at some point?) so I truly hope they get on it after the housing and glamour updates.
Yapping time I guess. Sorry lmao
More mature looking face options would be nice. Currently a lot of races are either 17 or 71. It is a little silly.
+1 the beards and eyebrows. Even just some stubble would be a nice start if they don't immediately want to commit to new meshes.
The sliders thing will likely never happen because of how the clothes work. AFAIK they are all individually fitted to the different models, which is why the buffness slider also barely changes the body shape. Shape sliders would cause intense clipping issues, as much as I would love having them, so I think that is not happening until there's a full rework of how gear works. We might get them on faces, though. Might interfere with expressions, I don't know how hard that would be to fix.
Tails? For Miqo? I really do not understand why they did not get an update in DT with the player model revamp. The fluffy ones look so terrible. Maybe more ear options as well for them within the canon ear shapes. I do not play one but I can imagine them being an integral part of the character design and even to me it feels a little lacking. Same goes for Viera.
Au Ra. Why, in the year of our lord 2025, are on some hair styles the extra horns/scales still not the same color as the body scales? Also a contender for uncoupling the faces from the horns. Maybe another option or two. Would also be nice to see tail decorations.
Poc hairstyles. It's time. Please.
New voices? I know we have quite a few already but that has always been the worst one for me when making an alt. On one hand so many that sound extremely similar, and on the other hand then there's extremely jarring jumps between deeper and higher pitched ones. Would probably be the cheapest and easiest to implement, just add some in between. We listen to our avatar yipe and groan all day, might make some folks happy to adjust the sounds.
In general one of two things would be good to do, though I lean towards the latter:
1 - double the face presets with new feature options for each. SE may prefer this because it is less work and they can control how the players look a bit better for cohesion and lore.
2 - remove feature and face locks completely and open customization for all options within the subrace. I personally would like to have all options because people do have children and all that, but I suspect that would be highly unpopular for 'erasing race identity'.

I'd also like for freckles to be separated from face paint.
Bring back 6.0 Dragoon. I want my job back.

+1 to most of your post, but a few corrections on this specific part:
- Sliders for both the body and the face are perfectly possible with the game's current models. The good ol' black magic users have them and they don't have to adjust every single piece of gear for it, it simply works (unless we're talking about custom body shapes, which I am not in this case. I am talking about stretching the existing body with sliders). Faces are more delicate because there's tons of bones used for animations, but they can definitely be messed with as well.
-Most races actually share the same body! Hyur, Elezen, Viera, they're all the same body with different proportion sliders applied to them to make them distinct. So the devs are literally using them already, it's just a matter of if they'd be willing to make the proper systems and HUD for us to interact with it. Definitely an amazing thing they could add to our character creator!
You can find this stuff googling around, don't need to break any ToS to know this info.
