    Squadron missions: Suddenly, all fail!?

    Hello All

Back with an issue related to squadron.

History: I send my squadron in mission since several months and enjoy the rewards. Note that I'm a bit a coward and select only missions for which the storm squadron sergeant tells that the team is OK for the task.

Issue: Since about 2 weeks, no matter what mission I chose (even lowest level), and although this is the same squadron, OK for the task, the missions always fail.

    My questions:
    - Did something change? Maybe that I failed to see info about an update?
    - If nothing changed, what can be the reason?

Thanks in advance for your help.

So the way squadron missions work is that each squad member has stats in those 3 squadron skills(physical mental tactical) that are determined by their class, their level, and their chemistries. Your squad as a whole also has a certain number of baseline points based on either your level or rank. You can recruit NPCs with different classes(or get the books that let you switch the class of someone you already have), work to get helpful chemistries, and level them up to increase their stats. The various training regimens let you alter the balance of your squad base points.

So each mission has a score threshold for all 3 stats(higher level missions requiring larger target numbers). If the combination of the 4 party members you choose plus your squads baseline points are equal to or above the score for all 3 stats you are guaranteed to win the mission. If you meet 2 of the 3 you have a roughly 66% chance to win, if you only meet 1 of 3 you can still win something like 33%, and if none of your stats reach the level asked then you are guaranteed to lose. I have seen no indication of any change to this behavior recently. Over the years i have seen streaks of both good and bad luck though. They happen. The exception is the missions to rank up the squadron. To pass any of them you must meet all 3 required stats, being a single point short on any of the 3 is a guaranteed fail for those specific missions. Maybe that helps?

Double posting for a follow up.

My squadron attributes = 400/400. There is only one unique orange mission (level 20) ensuring 100% success: The lowest level 20 one, Frontline support, that doesn't even bring a reward (else than XPs).

For all the other within the orange category, one of my attribute is lower than required. Well, it's clear now. So let's stay at this unique one again and again until I can afford better. I find it a bit weird. I'm allowed only one mission per week, that will take ages until I can go for interesting 100% success missions (having a reward).

Ok, you have a couple options. Leveling up your squadron will help some(disregard this advice if your squad is at max level of course). Youre looking at the lowest level "Routine Missions", but you do still get experience for the "Trainee Missions"(the green ones). And even if you dont really have good odds of winning a mission, your squad still gets half the experience for failing a mission so levels can also be gotten that way. In addition, you can still use your 3 training sessions per day to get more experience as well. And potentially you could drag your squad members into the Command Missions to level them as well, though this requires having a balanced enough team to cover the roles you cant play and to physically play the dungeons with the weird squad AI.

Beyond this, it is possible you would benefit from re-balancing your base squad 400/400. If your team is imbalanced in one way or another then moving the extra points from where you are strong and into your deficient stat could make the difference and allow you to get further down the mission list. While i was leveling my squadron i farmed in chemistries to boost their stats, now that i have my levels and ranks i have eliminated all of those chemistries and replaced them with chemistries that give me rewards instead.

And one final thing. Please dont be offended if this feels like an insulting tip. But have you recruited a full 8 members and are you looking at all of them when comparing stats to mission requirements? If you havent been, when selecting a mission to assign there is a button on the right side of the interface that looks like left and right pointing arrows. This opens your squadron roster, and allows you to choose who to assign rather then just sending the first 4 you recruited. Beyond that, if you really need to change stats then getting new jobs is the move. Every class has a unique mix, so recruiting/switching someone to the right class could help. Need more physical? The tank classes are best at that. More mental? Thats the casters. The best tactical classes are among the physical dps. Finding a balance that works for you helps. Whether thats a combination of multiple classes with varying strengths, or whether it means min/maxing your way into just a collection of the 3 classes that have the highest possible score in one of the 3 stats.

Oh, that I didn't know, thank you for the info.

    .
Yes, for me, as is now, if I increase one attribute, it decreases the 2 others. So it's only balancing for now.

    Yes, I do that too.

No offense at all. I'm so happy that you and others regularly take the time to help me. If I post here, it's for learning.
For that point, I'm proud ( ) to say that I had/have it clear.

Thanks a lot for your post. To be honest, for now, I'm still leveling up my main toon (stalling at Endwalker that I don't enjoy much) and an alt who is big fun, so that squadron doesn't have a high priority. I will keep sending it on missions and between 2 missions on training courses, and take it easy.

Aside from the balancing, in case you never noticed the final option on the training menu is something like "General Exercises"(im not in game to check the name right now). It doesnt change your stats, and just gives experience to whatever members of your squadron are present(so if you already sent 4 of them out for the day on a mission, those 4 miss the experience). All the little things add up over time until you have a squadron all set.
