The flag system was preferred and used because it allowed 5 out of 6 players to find parties while literally having to do nothing. Only the party leader had to form the group and actively seek/ask people.
In this system, it's the opposite. Everyone but the party leader has to constantly check to see if there is something going on.
I honestly doubt it'll ever catch on. While the extra options and filters are really nice, I don't think it'll be widely used for as long as people have to constantly seek the events themselves.
All the more reason to have both. If you have both the leader and the party members searching, you'll get parties even that much faster.
