It's exactly the same than in CC. I've been killed by SAM LB (esp as a job with cleaves everywhere and AoE channels) because they just took advantage of me being locked into an AoE move and dashed to me.
You just need to keep your eyes peeled for SAMs and adjust what you're doing, there is no cutting it in both modes. If anything in FL it's actually a lot more lenient because the SAM player doesn't have an enemy list to instantly click on the person(s) afflicted with Kuzushi, they have to locate them through the whole mess of players instead.

I have started a thread in the PvP section about time gated awards, where i argue that they basically force people who don't like pvp to pvp...
Thanks for being an example of such person. I have a feeling majority of players who have no interest in pvp feel forced to play it just because of the awards that will disappear over time.

You shouldn't feel forced to play a mode you have no interest in because the rewards are time gated. It's such common sense.

-Almost impossible to play any Melee job as Range ones have massive advantage and can touch you from high-ground.

Proof you can win if nobody dies and you bring down the ices faster than the rest.

Onsal and Seize are the only PVP modes because you've to clean objectives and kill people in order to secure points.
-Going after first place requires invading from above or catching them in mid when "your" ice is up. It requires your whole team ignoring the ice for a moment and actually pvping.
-I don't think melee is impossible to play. Far from it. I do think ranged have advantages of being able to dish out cc, and thus do a bit too much damage and that there is too much cc in frontline. However you can usually ignore them if they aren't gonna kill you.

"proof you can win if nobody dies..." you can bring down ice faster if you have battlehigh. Also if you can kill your opponent they can't bring down the ice. At full BH ice melts within seconds.

Being a 240 ping player, It feels strange to have my thoughts actually echoed for once, but I was also ignorant that there actually was PVP forums, ngl.

Shatter used to be my favorite frontline map before the rework, and now I try to avoid it like the plague whenever I have the liberty to, ie, not rushing for rank 25 on my now two characters I'm actively trying to maintain. Going to OCE to farm out CC isn't viable due to not knowing peak times there, and I frag out enough on NA on Ninja to feel like I'm at minimum competent.

My PoV on Shatter is that it gives too much defender's advantage, but it also doesn't reward playing defensively- to the point that, as others have pointed out, AFKing on ice actually hurts the team's performance unless you're already ahead on kills, in which you don't even want more than one alliance even on the ice anyways. You're not going to find the coordination required to bring down a team that's ahead, or find a team that actually knows how to fight from the cliffs, so both teams are going to funnel into the access from mid, fight each other instead of the winning team and thus fight for third place. The objective suggests ignoring PVP, but actively makes winning harder if you ignore PVP. It's backwards.

Bait Sam into lb you by having shields on yourself and watch them fail.

You're just griefing and playing for "I want exp and rewards, thus i'll be afk because I don't enjoy this or don't want to bother learning". You are actively making your team suffer and lose. All those that have over 1-2 million damage and trying so hard to win, will be undermined because you don't want to push buttons or you probably have no recuperate, barrier or anything on your hotbars as well.
