    Give machinist a ress. Yes, seriously

    So i know dps resses are a controversial topic, but hear me out.

    Machinist has the reputation of being the suboptimal choice in raids (however true or not it may be). People tend to want the rphys role to be a 'support dps', giving utility and boost the damage output of the party, which mch does not do better than the other 2 jobs. The only unique thing is wrench, but dancer for example has curing waltz as counterpart.

    So how about giving machinist a 'defibrylator' skill, which would be a melee range ressurection.
    It fits the job's fantasy, tinkering with all things electricity and tech.

    Of course it would need downsides to balance it out and keep healers as primery ressers.
    I was thinking of either very long cooldown, or making it cost a bit of battery gauge.
    Id also put it up to consideration if it should be a gcd or ogcd.

    What do you think?

    I think that caster balance has been fucked for the last 10 years because caster raise exists. None of the dps should have a raise because square has proven they don't know how to balance it.

    Technicaly, any job that has a raise, should not be balanced around it at all. Raising indicates a teammate already made a flaw, and that should be enough dps loss on its own. If you balance those casters against that, you are making them worse than is needed.

    A healer is ALWAYS better dps wise to perform a raise, and you have 2 each 2 minutes. If you need 3, its very likely your group wont clear a savage as that is 3x25% damage loss. Sure, in extremes they are better, but if we are talking about mch issues, its for savage+ content. In extremes mch and rdm are at an excelent spot already.

    If you want to fix those 2 jobs, you realy need to look at what savage needs, and there for mch its the lack of damage compared to a raidbuff. For rdm i dont realy know what its lacking on.

    But the way mch can compensate is either by being in the top list of damage in general, or by simply providing a raidbuff that allows other jobs to compensate for that missing damage. It doesnt need to be as strong as brd or dnc on that (mch has a decently potent mitigation which can save healer casts, or make other mechanics easier to resolve). But it should at least benefit the buff window. I dont care if its clumsy to use, as long as its there.

    My personal favorite would be putting a raidbuff as effect on full metal machist, as this would also reduce its total burst duration during burst phases (by removing 3 casts from being possible to be placed in it). It removes some freedom in its rotation, but for raid buff window alignment, this might be helpful (its base cast is 60, which means this buff can be applied 2x, which does enable it to be weaker).

    Machinist is not being represented in this game for real i seen people give machinist / mechanic class items that can buff team, revive, and basically create items that help push the fight.

    I can already see it, machinist dealing even less damage to balance for the raise, just for SE to allow phoenix down in all content one patch later. Making machinist truly useless, as it should be.
