I was excited for Variant Dungeons, Island Sanctuary, and Cosmic Exploration. You're forgetting the chaotic raid too (not that I care about it). And, heck, I still look forward to new MSQ and raids.

The main issue is that people blow through the new content, unless you make it a daily/weekly thing, and then people complain that it's too much of a grind/nothing new. That, and the more content you add, the more spread out the player base is, and the harder it is to find people for everything.

I do think that they often don't make the best choices with new content - the changes to PT are great but should have been done for PoTD at the same time, as PoTD is still a bottleneck; or Occult Crescent not granting experience (among other very poor decisions there).

But it's a MMORPG thing - there's always a gameplay loop. People just leave when they don't find the gameplay loop fun anymore. There's nothing new. They just shot themselves in the back when they increased the time between big patches, as it gets stale even for people who do enjoy the gameplay loop.

The main issue with this, and many other issues this game has, is ppl always want to default to the problem being the players, but its not.

SE does just not make content that has enough of a life span. They try to make everything feel rewarding, but they just do not do a good job at doing so. Either the grind is just tedious and not fun, like what turned out to be just another fate farm again in OC, or they make it so everything is easy to complete and drain of rewards. They also design things so the time it takes to figure out patterns and defeat it takes as little time as possible. It's absurd that the average clear time of anything is less than 24 hours in the vast majority of content to appease the few players who have the attention span of a gold fish and the spoiled "I Want It Now!" attitude of Veruca Salt. Then we have the problem of nothing being worth doing outside the patch it's introduced in. It's an mmo, we shouldn't have to pace ourselves this hard just because SE wants to release content with a week or two shelf like and expect us to make it last 4 months.

Sure we can continue to blame players for many of these issues, but when push comes to shove it is simply not a player issue, no matter how badly ppl want to believe it is.

    It often is the players.

I saw a post on Twitter for the NA FF account that was announcing the Blunderville revival. There was someone in it complaining that we were getting that instead of new content. At the time of the post, Pilgrim's Traverse had been out less than a week. When I asked them about that, they made some comment about that being something you ran once and never again.

The content itself is designed for longevity. There are exclusive rewards that people want. There are 3 mounts to get. There are 2 framer's kits. There are fashion accessories, music, minions, glam, and not to mention what you can get from the sacks. They have a weekly challenge log to encourage us to replay it. You can level your classes there to encourage us to do it. They added a more hardcore fight with variable challenge that you can control to give players something a bit new and different to try out. Whether PT resonated with a specific person or not, the argument can't be made that the devs didn't try to make this content that would be enjoyable and worthwhile. And still this person wasn't satisfied. Because there are some like that who will never be satisfied, no matter what SE does.

I did ask this person what they wanted. What would they consider content that wasn't just one and done. They never answered me.

I have to agree here. Some people will never be satisfied no matter what SE does, and that’s okay. But at some point, we also need to recognize when dissatisfaction is self-inflicted.

There’s a difference between content not being “for you” and actively making it trivial for yourself. Plowing through it, buying all rewards with gil, and then complaining about replayability. The former is a legitimate perspective; the latter isn’t a design flaw, it’s a result of how the player chose to engage with the content. Thus in part (note that I said, in part, not entirely) a player problem.

Acknowledging that distinction doesn’t excuse SE from making better content, but it does help separate legitimate critiques from complaints that come from rushing or bypassing the systems designed to make content last.

This is leveling content they chose to release half way through an expansions life when most ppl who do want to level jobs already have. A lot of ppl don't want to do leveling content for a couple minions, mounts and an orchestration. The rewards are extremely shallow and you can easily get most of them in a weeks time by playing regularly and not even pushing it. Again this is ppl making excuses for SE creating shallow content, not the players just bum rushing content

I hold back on my crafting classes because I get so bored between the Fan Fests and the next expansion (several months close to a year) that I need something to do and the game rarely keeps players going. It's sad that I pre-plan crap like this because I know there will be very little to keep me interested beyond BLU and BST.

maybe the DDR expirience was unpleasant as it is for most of people in the game and he did not want to do it anymore? It feels like a chore where you learn quite boring patterns on where to stand on certain frame of the fight.
It doesn't promote any personal skill , you cannot save the party either as there is plenty of body checks going on.
Also one shot death as punishment doesn't feel any good either.

I think the DDR formula should be changed and adjusted for modern audience.

What would you propose the change be?
