i wouldnt say SHB was heavily ff8 referenced. I guess doomtrain was chosen because they already used 6's and a train boss fight is cool. They could have gone with Ark from ff9 though, but maybe they are holding that for later.

ff8 is my favourite so im definitely Nostalgia compromised.

I didn't say it's "dedicated ff8 expansion" nor that I've seen people saying that. I disagree on eden being "light" on direct references though. We literally fight eden itself as first boss, gaia is so ultimecia coded, as e12 shows, and let's not forget the field of flower thing with ryne and gaia refering to squall and rinoa. There are othrr smaller references as well

GNB is very direct reference too. Instead of "job that is based on older ff game", it's "squall's job but in ff14".
