    Chrono Trigger anniversary

So, it's being already 30 years since this game was released. So, how about an event here to commemorate?

It could be a new dungeon, where you run it along with Chrono (SAM), Marle (WHM), Lucca (MCH), Frog (DRK), Robo (WAR), Ayla (MNK) or Magus (BLM).

I think CT would be perfect for an alliance raid series crossover. Each raid you could visit a different time period and fight bosses from that era. It could even all start similar to the original game with a FFXIV version of the Millennial Fair. There are so many unique outfits they could turn into glam, the Epoch would make an amazing mount, and of course the music would be wonderful to have for the orchestrion.

Frog's definitely a PLD since he's got a buckler and is a semi decent healer. Robo's more of a DRK since most of his spell-like abilities are shadow element and kinda theme-appropriate since one of his ultimate weapons does better damage depending on HP.

Unless they do it in the same style as Ivalice raids by actually integrating the lore into the world for future content as well. I'd rather not see an alliance raid collab from another game.

And yes, while I love FF11, I'm disappointed it followed Nier raids here, where it doesn't build or introduce any meaningful lore to XIV

As entirely 14 player who never played a single other FF game, there are three types of crossover content.

Type 1 is when it's obviously a crossover pandering that feels like a slog if you don't get any of the references.

Type 2 is when you can tell it's a crossover but it's integrated well into the existing storylines and enjoyable as the result.

Type 3 is when you are shocked to learn that it was NOT an FF14 original idea and actually came from another game.

For me, both Vanadiel and Ivalice fell into type 1. The enjoyability of both raid lines and their storylines hinges 100% on you knowing and enjoying the source material and if you're clueless in that regard, they're a tedious slog to sit through.

That doesn't bother me at all but to each their own.

This is where I disagree with you. For the longest time, I've also been an FF14 player without ever giving a chance for other games. Yet Ivalice didn't struck me as Type 1 at all, but as Type 2.

Yes, it still was obvious that it was a collab, or a direct inspiration from another FF game, but it did try its best to not be an Alien the Nier raids were, and that's the most prime example of Type 1 in my opinion.

To this day, I still haven't played FFT. Yet I loved the Ivalice raids to the point I pushed myself to give a chance of FF12, which ended up with me spending over 170 hours into it.

On the other hand, I did play FF11 for a while, and agree with you that it's unfortunately under Type 1, even though I did understood the references because to me, Ivalice lore integration is the standard that all other collabs should follow.

As someone who didn't know anything about FFT (back then), Ivalice raid is between type 2 and 3 for me. It was really good, I enjoy it a lot. The story is good, the raid itself is fun, and obviously orbonne monastery is still top no.1 for me till this day.

    FF11 raid is..hmm I guess between type 1 and 2. It's okay at best.

Nier is absolute dumpster fire though. The raid/fight are okay, but the story... just ugh. Definitely type 1.

Idk, I enjoyed the parts related to Dalmascan resistance, but everything else in the Ivalice storyline just fell so flat. I have no clue what this weird garlean stageplayer family is doing and why their interpersonal drama and obsession with some old play is so important, and frankly, Pandemonium did better job at building up Ultima's role in the lore than the *raid where you fight the Ultima herself two expansions ago* which is an anti-acomplishment of grandest measure for Ivalice storyline. There's the moogle who's just kinda there and everyone pretends its different while it looks like an average moogle, theres Mikoto who is also just kinda there for her Echo, and will only become an interesting character in Bozja storyline... It feels like Ivalice as is could be split into like 3 different questlines and would still be throwing too much stuff at you too fast for you to be able to get invested properly.

Nier had even less engaging story, but frankly, the setting that feels different from anything else in FF14 kinda carried it for me. Even if it was a shamelssly blatant crossover pandering.

And Vanadiel is the worst of both worlds! I mean, gameplay wise raids themselves are fine, but by goodness, why do you keep trying to bait me with nostalgia references to characters I don't know exist by having 99% of dialogue be about all the cool things that happened in that game that I never played?!

Chrono Trigger would be an amazing crossover. I would lose my sh*t if they announced a Chrono Trigger crossover.

Also Magus is a Reaper, based on his weapon.
