Unable to get catalyst with fingerprints of goddess equipped!

I am happy to know how active this forum operate.
Yes I haven't finished the quest, because I don't know how to finish it.
If I open the map from the quest, then I only see a blank map with "???".
I don't know where to find that specific node.
I read on lodestone about the quest and as far as I understand, I just have to equip the ability and use my skills to make out random nodes to harvest random catalyst to fnish the quest.
I had mined approximately 20 times near the location, whereI received the quest, but then I was fed up and looked at Lodestone about the recommended location to find catalyst and traveed to Noscea and Black Shroud.

Do I have to harvest in Thanalan? Is the marked nodes on my quest-map a specific node and not just a random node? As I already wirtten above, I can't make out where the map indicate the "???" is.

I completed the quest by going to the part on the map the quest tells you to go and hitting the rank 1 searching ability while in that area. The node that the game directs you to should always activate Fingerprints and give you the catalyst. This is how I've had everyone in my LS do it so far so you shouldn't have any problems.

Tonight I finally managed to get some catalysts through mining near Horizon.
It took me mining seven nodes until the ability triggered for the first time, but afterwards by the next 5 nodes, the ability triggered three times in a row!?! It seems I gave up too soon in my past attempts.
A few last questions about this topics:
- Do the Fingerprints of goddess trigger more often, if I just equip it alone?
- Does the possibility by triggering this ability somehow connected to some attributes or is it completely random based on luck?

Fingerprints of the Gods should, in theory, trigger more often if it's the only thing equipped, simply because there are no other abilities to get in the way. Once one ability triggers, no other ability can until the node is exhausted. The increase would be pretty small though, so feel free to equip any and all abilities that you find to be useful (note: most DoL abilities are crap).

There are various rumors flying around that stacking some stat or another will increase the proc rate of your abilities. Others think it's affected by the moon cycle, and others think it's pure luck. However, Fingerprints of the Gods has a pretty high proc rate by itself, so I wouldn't really worry about it. Nothing is proven one way or the other.
