    Game pad vs Keyboard

What are you guys using? I still feel like I am wrestling with this games UI, especially on AV, CC, and Garuda speedruns. I have yet for find a targeting setting and setup that I feel comfortable with and not clumsy... Maybe it's because I play on a 42" TV and have more realestate to travel. I felt like I did back in Darkhold speed run days. Right now I use keyboard + mouse, but switch over to controller when I'm doing non intensive stuff. Mostly play WHM, BLM, MNK.

For standard MMOs I'm more comfortable with mouse/keyboard... but this game's default setup is so god awful and the lag is just unbearable that I just use my PS3 controller to play. Controller is far superior in FFXIV 1.X.

I'll definitely go back to mouse/keyboard for 2.0 and compare it to the new controller scheme. Theres a lot of things you can do with m/k that you can't do with a gamepad. One thing that comes to mind is:

While running - Jump -> Spin camera 180 degrees -> Disengage (WoW Hunter) - to leap forward in the same direction you were running. You cannot spin the camera fast enough for this with a gamepad.

For those that don't know or just can't figure it out from that scenario above... Disengage makes you jump back like Elusive Jump. <-- this is probably first thing I'm going to try to do and I do think it's possible since in one of the videos you can see him jump then use an ability while falling. lol

The speed at which you can spin the camera around has nothing to do with k/m vs gamepad... If you couldn't spin the camera around fast enuff it's because you didn't bother to increase the sensitivity of whatever key you had mapped to your axis control in whatever 3rd pt program you were using (in the case of WoW). User error is user error.

No. Even with increased sensitivity, you cannot compare controller to mouse camera movement. It's been proven numerous times that mouse precision is superior to an analog stick. Preference is preference, but don't try to say that the camera speed isn't different. Because mouse controls are undeniably superior.

You can increase the camera turn speed sure. But you cant be as precise with a gamepad as you can with a mouse. That is not user error that is just the way it is. Flicking the mouse in a direction to spin the camera is infinitely faster than holding the analog stick in the direction you want the camera to go. This is also an FPS argument and it's been proven time and time again. For camera controls mouse > gamepad.

Also, I didn't use any third party mouse programs and camera speed was always default in WoW.

Oh you say its been proven time and time again.. ah ok... that must sum it all up then...

You also seem to have missed the point, or maybe I missed yours.. Why would you use a 3rd pt mouse program? I was talking about a 3rd pt controller/gamepad program for WoW. You said that the speed at with you can rotate the camera on controlller/gamepad is significantly lower than you can on a mouse... so I assumed you actually tried WoW with a controller/gamepad to "know" this.. ie you used a 3rd pt program (apparently incorrectly..). And if you didn't even try it with a controller.. well then PFFFFFFFFFFFT to you sir!

Now why the fuck would I use a controller in WoW? And yes that's what I said because it is a fact. Jesus, why is that so hard to comprehend?

If you want to test this out yourself go ahead and play CoD or BF3 and switch between mouse/keyboard and gamepad at the highest sensitivity. It's pretty obvious which one is the winner.

Yea, I almost feel like you have to use a keyboard and mouse for healing endgame stuff.

What target settings you using on game pad for BLM?

I use the controller almost 100% of the time.
My reason is simply that the keyboard is analog.
There is no slow and fast, there are no directions other than Left, Right, Up, down.
The joystick allows my character to move more like a human being and less like some digital glob.
Plus, i find the action bar easy to navigate in battle with the D-pad.
