People getting angry over the fact other people get to wear a virtual suit of armor they've very likely used only sporadically are really funny to me. It's like those Fortnite players who don't want the old battle pass items to come back because, and I quote, it makes them look "OG". Sorry your virtual doll isn't so OG anymore I guess, but FOMO sucks and ALL cosmetics should be available to the player in some way

You know what, I agree. All cosmetics should be available to all players. And they should be earned the exact same way as they were originally. Want some glam from an old extreme or savage? Run it synced. Unsynced runs no longer give any drops at all. This includes mounts, minions, you name it. Want some feast title or item? Get the equivalent rank and you can have it.

Not good enough to run content synced successfully or to get high enough in pvp?

I don't disagree but it'd ironically be a bad thing. The people who would've already wanted stuff from it will have it. Up and comers wanting stuff will thusly be left incapable of completing it due to lacking bodies or players good enough to do it. They need to make Epic Echo not trash and just let us 1 or 2 shot Non-Forced Synced content if we're 10 or more levels above the content.

Not true. They just need to grind pvp or find 7 other people who want the thing, same as the original earners did. If they can't or don't want to put in the effort to join or form a group? Oh well. It's just pixels, right? Not a big deal at all.

I like how he says it like its supposed to be a "gotcha" as if there aren't already tons of items that can only be earned via synced-only methods. Ultimates, Unreals, Chaotic, Variant & Criterion, Field Operations, Deep Dungeons, Masked Carnivale, and on. Even the MSQ frequently makes you sync down for solo duties, and even people using NPCs have to do it synced.

I don't think FCbro plays (much less clears) a lot of content if he thinks he's making up a revolutionary suggestion, this has been a thing since ARR, lol.

I have a love/hate relationship with this...

I can understand the effort put into things and valuing that.

But this game doesn't really facilitate long-form at all... Beyond a certain point that content is just irrelevant and then the value ultimately just comes more from the obscurity of the content itself rather than the difficulty itself.

and solving that... making it long form" involves far more than just stripping things such as undersized parties, to be honest.

As for PvP... I think reward structure could've been better designed.

Talking about wintrading is pretty pointless: the glamours were exclusive to the veterans despite it having happened - until they weren't.

Same with White Ravens (for 1.0 players who did the quest/grind) and preorder earrings (for people who paid rl money). Guess the difference is that no one kept parroting "yes yes no one will ever have these again" - until something changed.

I know they're talking about new projects mainly. But ff14 isn't negligible older project yet. Maintaining it's dwindling popularity by same philosophy doesn't seem impossibly far fetched. In other words, stopping people from dropping ff14 by giving us what vast majority wants should be second best scenario, where luring new people in is the best.

I'm honestly surprised it hasn't happened already. Not everybody wants the physical merchandise (assuming a given piece is even still available), but they would gladly pay for the emotes and minions that come attached to them.
