I also wouldn’t call it burnout. It’s just boredom.
Sure, there’s always “something to do” in this game, but it’s boring.
Most of the content just repeats itself over and over. After 2–3 expansions,
a new player is already sick of the same formula again and again.

Gear progression is boring, poetics farming is boring, dungeons are boring, and so on.
Grinding without any real sense of reward is also boring and just feels like a waste of time.

For me personally, for example, it’s not worth farming endless FATEs just to get another
mount that we barely even see in this game. THIS does not respect the players time. And it's
    also very boring to farm.

I've begun a slow-burn campaign in getting my FC-mates to try other MMOs--I hear that the new WoW housing system is promising, so if I can get a critical mass of them to at least try it, that'd probably be ideal.

Truth be told my FC is the only reason I'm still playing FFXIV, the visual novel MSQ by itself isn't enough to keep me engaged and all other content is either low quality or not what I want to engage with. Running raids and M+ in WoW with them would be peak content

I'm making all the old relic weapons. I finished all the ShB weapons after collecting materials for over a year; I've got 6 ARR relics and 7 HW relics left and have hoarded all the components I can stockpile for them, so I'm just slowly plugging away at it. After that I will only have the Eureka weapons (and current ones) left.

This is... perhaps not a plan to avoid burn-out. But mindless number-go-up grind is something to do.

I've been burnt out as well. I'm usually logging in once every two weeks but it is no longer than 30 minutes. I was hoping for a good grind in OC. But that was just roulette spam which I recently completed 3 weeks ago and have slowed down logging in since.

I tried the deep dungeon and got bored of it because its like previous deep dungeons. During Shadownbringers and Stormblood this was the time where I was knee deep in exploration content but they didnt add anything in 7.3 for exploration content. I was burnt out on the crafting and gathering exploration style content. I've been doing what Yoshi P recommends and that is playing other games.

It definitely does sound like you have burnout from the tone of your post.

You say "tied to" playing the game every day. You say your friend group are annoying for still playing every day.

The answer could simply be that they are still enjoying the game. That's why many of us still play every day.

There's nothing wrong with a break. Take some time away. Do something else that makes you happy. Come back when the urge strikes. You will be a lot happier when you choose to play the game and get something in return for it than forcing yourself to because you see it as an obligation.

I think out of all of the responses this one is probably the best one I've gotten imo. I guess if some of my friend group still play they're getting some level of enjoyment from still playing I cant really deny that and its not really my place to take that enjoyment away. I just wish I could play something with said friend group that isn't XIV is where my frustration is coming from. Especially since personally the state of the game isn't holding my interest as it was back when I first started playing during late HW to now.

Have you talked to them about it? Maybe see if the crew can plan a regular non-XIV night. If they're really friends, they should at least understand your feelings. If they're really good friends, they'll see how they can make time for you in a way you'll enjoy while still having their time they enjoy with the game.

I started in 2.2 myself and I've always been a proponent that if you aren't happy with what you're doing, just don't do it. Don't have to be away forever. But going away and doing something that makes you really happy can sometimes mean you come back to this game really fired up about something you missed. I've never had to break myself but I've also stuck by that rule religiously. Might mean on a given night I play one of the new console games instead of XIV, but it means I'm always interested in what I'm doing in the game and engaged with it.

Good luck, because there are too many people that play XIV as their only MMO.

I like to see my Gil number go up, so I play to level my submarines and make money through maps and crafting.
That being said, actually selling things is difficult right now since there are fewer people playing and less demand for my products as a result. I, too, am feeling burnt out on logging in to basically adjust my prices on dozens of goods that still haven't sold, and then proceed to do the same handful of tasks I do every day. Sometimes when I'm really bored, I go to Dynamis and help their sprouts in the partyfinder, because they'll post MSQ things in there. But since I work late hours, I'm effectively nocturnal and most of this game shuts down while I'm still wide awake. I'm bored often. If we had a relevant variant dungeon, I'd probably solo it for hours on end during these times. But we don't. And soloing the deep dungeon puts me to sleep. So yeah.

A lot of my friends have quit until December when the next patch releases. But if there's anything I've learned over the years, it's that every expansion fewer and fewer people actually return to this game. I need to clean out my friends list, but anytime I open it, it takes so long to load that I just give up and do something else.
