Burn Out

So as the title implies, I'm kinda burnt out on XIV for now. Haven't really logged in all that much to do anything other than a few obligations. That and I haven't really been having fun with the game in general with the current expansion. It's mostly just get Savage done, farm the current EX trail for the mount, and maybe a few side activities here and there like the Cosmic Exploration and Deep Dungeon. Maybe do an Ultimate with a close friend group as well, but other than that I just don't have much drive to play.

I've kinda done most of what I wanted to do and it just seems like forcing myself to play is not healthy and seems to make the game less enjoyable. What is it that's keeping some people logging in every day? Kinda having a hard time understanding whats keeping people tied to playing this game every day since some in my friend group are guilty of that and its a tad annoying tbh (not to the general player base but my friend group). There's plenty of other games out there to play in the backlog and in general. Also another question would be what would any of you suggest to do when suffering from burn out?

i just like my catgirl and tbh my only advice is to step away from the game and play others - unless you have a house there's really nothing stopping you from trying to tackle some of your backlog! games aren't supposed to feel like a job or a chore

There's not much keeping me in the game everyday, just doing hunting mark/society quest dailies along with weekly challenge logs. I spend maybe 2 hours logged in before hopping off to go do other things with the rest of my free time.

I thought I would stick around long enough to get all the Moonward sets from the nuts vendor in Old Sharlayan (Final Fantasy 4 was my first Final Fantasy, so I'm stupidly bias/nostalgic), but I realized I wouldn't have any place to actually store it all so why bother?

I honest to god don't bloody know what to do anymore that's worth bothering with, and that's counting the MSQ where I just can't bring myself to care about Endwalker after having to force myself to finish Shadowbringers. I already came back from a 2 month break, and it already seems like its time to go back on another come November.

I guess I should have mentioned my backlog included things like the Elden Ring DLC (I have yet to even load up Elden Ring after my first playthrough since 2022), Expedition 33, Disgaea 7, Phantom Brave TLH, completing Wukong, Digimon TS, finishing the last biome in Valheim, and just bouncing into Marvel Rivals for events every now and then. I could be forgetting some but those are the ones that come to mind right off the bat.

This happens to every player IMO. Take a break, say 3 to 6 months. If you are still into MMO than come on back.

I don't log on every day. I come on during the weekend to chill with friends, then I go play other games during the week. I have quite the backlog of games I've been putting off over the years because of too much FF14, so it's nice to finally get around to playing them due to my low level of interest currently in this game.

Maybe my house holds my sub hostage, but that's where I hang out with friends.

From what you say, you're not burned out, you're bored. XIV players and this "it's not the game, it's me" mentality...

I'm powered by the love for my bun son and bnnuys in-game.

Also, I've stopped playing other pc games due to lack of funds, but I still pay for my entry-sub since I like that I can set my own goals in-game and make a small step to progress each one every day.
