Great job Molly and grats on the gear. Like I mentioned earlier I finally jumped into the melded gear sphere after getting shredded by Garuda and doing crap DPS in my full AF compared to other members who were really outputting more (with better gear obviously). Might call it quits if all that gil went poof. Worst case scenario, if they did say something like that, people could stop 'wasting' their time or gil on producing these pieces of gear.

    Lets hope not.

in the post linked above, it does sound like stuff is getting adjusted, but in a balanced way. the gear you bought will still be good.

"In A Realm Reborn, we are planning to make adjustments so that the ratio of influence from character stats and from gear stats is 1:1. With this, having 5 materia melded onto a single item won’t elicit as large of a difference like it does currently."

Also, check out here Molly, I am sure you have some pic's to contribute:

Nothing quite worthy of that thread yet. I don't have any quadruples, but I do have a full set of triples with some double melded sentinel's gear thrown in for good measure.

Once I get two complete sets of triples (one for WAR and one for PLD) I'll start on quads.

All I get out of the 1:1 comment, is that now you won't need to load up on a stat to notice a difference. Obviously having more of a stat will result in you doing more damage/have more MP/HP/etc., but it'll be more apparent if you don't have a ton, unlike now where you need to have a ton to notice any kind of difference.

What isn't exactly clear to me and potentially a less harmful outcome is they adjust the caps so that they are lower. So even though stats on gear will relate 1:1 with stats of the individual (apparently currently not the case based on Rukki's comment) if the cap is lower then the stats on gear would have dimished returns particularly if you have a quad meld with STR for example you might not need STR on any other piece. So in that system melded gear will still be useful, but it will change a lot of how people are geared now. Still scares me because of the uncertainty of the value of all this expensive gear I just bought!

I would also take any community reps translation like that with a grain of salt. They don't have a great history of accurately relaying intent; I would just hold off on going for any big triple melds/double melds at this time and see what shakes out when we get our hands on 2.0 and can start testing what stats do.

I know that they are making it so that Materia/Melded gear isn't going to overpower dungeon/boss drops (unless its 3-5x melded with tier 4's I'd imagine). That way it makes people do the content and not just focus on melded gear I suppose.

If the gears worth it I'll do the content.
My issue with alot of the current stuff i.e darklight is that given some of it takes up 2 gear slots it's highly overated and pretty much just ePeen. for example....

The cowl looks nice but say goodbye to a melded or even the milita hat for example.
    cowl:- MP : +120, Enfeebling Magic Potency : +15, Int : +15, Pty : +15, Evasion : -20, Refresh : +3, Cannot equip gear to head
    vs
    militia hat: Magic Accuracy : +6, Int : +20, Magic Crit Rate : +15,
    militia robe: MP : +30, Int : +15, Mnd : +15, Magic Evasion : +10

you could probably even do better than the cowl just single melding a felt hat and bliaud for the most part

the heavy flanchard looks nice HP : +140, Enmity : +25, Vit: +12, Dex: +12, Evasion : -20, Magic Evasion : +10, Cannot equip gear to feet

i have a pair of sentinals sabatons double melded so HP : +147, Vit: +3, Enmity : +9 so the flanchard already looks pretty meh in comparison. if i can pair my sabatons with militia trousers or a melded pair of sentinals trousers the dark light looks even less impressive.

these are reasons why untill the last couple of weeks i've never bothered with av/cc, well that and ive never been a fan of speed run mechanics. the rewards are kind of unimpressive for the most part and the only reason i go at the minute is cos couple of friends groups sometimes need a decent 8th to hit the 17 minutes for there mythrils.
