Begging for an arachnophobia filter

This thread has been an interesting read. I'm all for more accessibility features to help everyone.

I myself have a massive fear of Bees and Wasps IRL - Layton however is a God slayer and has no fear of such things.
I just try to be more like Layton in my day to day.

Not to sure the best way to word what I really wanna but I would say it’s sight then sound. I play on a big tv tbh so I tend not to use headphones to play with sound but do use them when I play with others. I found when I played FFXVI and the ones in there the sound they made helped me steer clear of them.

Also thanks for some education today. I didn’t know that was the name for that phobia. I’m sorry you deal with it.

Sorry you deal with that IRL I’m definitely not a fan of them either. And despite child hood trauma with them (stung on spine at 3 years old earliest memory) I’m only scared if they are near me irl. Because I know the ones in game can’t sting me like the ones irl. And I know this about my phobia of spiders but I can’t push past that road block. Honestly besides mine cause it’s scary to me phobias do fascinate me.

This is the perfect use-case of the blacklist. Players on blacklists can't be seen or heard, and neither can their emotes.

They are a friend and an fc member. They kinda knew how to wind me up that night so it’s why they did it. I need my blacklist space for the creeps and the bad PF players XD.

If only spider type enemies could be blacklisted.

What I don’t understand is the pushback against requesting an optional feature... one that harms no one and helps those who need it. It wouldn’t change your experience or your game play at all. But it could make the difference for someone who needs it. So what’s the issue that people are having with OP's reasonable request?

I dunno about pushback. I might've missed the odd comment actually suggesting to do the opposite of add the filter. I'm not personally against it myself. But realistically. It ain't gonna happen. That's not pushback, just educated guessing going off history.

I'd do it anyway, after a fair warning, but then I don't have friends who would intentionally trigger my misophonia. My blacklist is basically all people who stood around using /shakedrink, and now my playtime is much nicer since I ended up blacklisting most of the obnoxious emoters. Took about 30 or so, still plenty of space for anyone else who needs disappeared from my online life!

Of course it's the people in this forum dismissing someone's phobia because they don't have it.

Maybe just don't input if you can't relate even for a bit? Not everything needs your smartass "you just need to git gud and get used to it lul" answer.

I'm not that close to be having an arachnophobia but I do get heeby jeebies if I see irl or virtual creepy thing due to seeing a really large one in elementary, so I get you.

Sadly accessibilities like these doesn't seem to cross most developers minds. The only game I played and ever saw a filter for the arachnes is WoW

When I mentioned pushback I meant comments like ‘Just don’t be scared of pixels.’ It’s not a direct ‘No, we don’t want this,’ but it carries the same message of ‘This isn’t necessary.’ It dismisses the need without engaging with the actual request and downplaying the OP's struggles.
