Let's use Machinist as an example. I love machinist as a job, I love the kit, I love the playstyle, I love the effects. What I don't love is that Machinist is considered last, or not at all when it comes to gear. 90% of the time, phys. ranged gear looks like it was built for either Bard, or Dancer and Machinist is expected to just deal with it. When i picture a Machinist, I see a fantasy cowboy. A mix of modern jackets with equipment that monitors your gun's integrity and the like, cowboy aesthetic where we wear boots with spurs, or jeans, etc. The vast majority of the time we get equipment that looks like the job wasn't even considered when it was made. A lot of this has to do with the fact that the devs love recycling outfits and giving them alternate colors, but Machinist has been around since 3.0, and here we are a full 10 years later, and they still can't get the Machinist look right. Often times outfits that would be a damn near perfect fit for the job are given to other jobs that don't use the same stats, and i am forced to sit and watch as Dragoon, Paladin, etc. gets to run around in an outfit that would have been my dream glamour.
With 8.0 being the expansion they are using to take a hard look at all the jobs and revamping them, now would be a perfect time to change the way our Glamour system works. In years past Yoshi-P refused to open up glamours, citing that they "didn't want a mage in armor" and so on and so forth. Nowadays that claim means nothing when we have PvP track gear that can put any job in full platemail, or wear outfits so skimpy it would be considered a crime. Why not take this time to open up all outfits to all jobs. If you want to exclude relic gear, that's fine. But everything else should be free game. It's borderline criminal to have outfits that match the aesthetics of a job, but it is locked to a job that very much doesn't match that aesthetic. I am tired of my aesthetic creativity being strangled because the devs seemingly don't want to touch the glamour system with a ten foot pole.
