Quest: "Mislaid Plans", done or not?

Hello All

Situation: I have the quest "Work it harder, Make it better", but can't do it because I don't have the Skysteel Prototype Tool. I should obtain/have obtained it as reward from the quest "Mislaid Plans", but I don't find it. If I lost it, I can purchase it for 80k in Ishgard, but I would prefer not to waste 80k. I therefore need to know if I have done the quest (and lost the tool) or not.

Problem: I can't find out because I don't find it in the lodestone quest database.

My questions: Is it in the lodestone database? If yes, under what category? If not, how can I check if I have already done this quest or not?

You should have received:

Skysteel Prototype Coffer

You need to click on the coffer and redeem it. It is meant to give you a tool for the class you are currently on. After doing that you will have the necessary tool.

You'd wanna check in your ingame journal though, I'd imagine.

But more pertinent is what Jeeqbit there posted about the coffer to get the prototype.

I'm sorry, I think I explained wrongly. I try to clarify.

I know about the coffer and how it works (Thanks Jeeqbit). My problem is that I don't know anymore if I have already done the quest "Mislaid Plans" (in that case I lost the coffer/tool) or not (in that case, lucky me, I can still get the coffer/tool without paying 80k).

@Canadane, the link you give me is that of the general database where we can see all quest. This one doesn't show me if I have completed that quest or not. The database I was talking about is the one linked to our account profile, that records our progress. If I click the "Quests" button in that interface, I get the list of all quests I already did, but I can't find it there. The same way, my journal doesn't help as I can't find it there either.

The Ishgardian Restoration quests line seems to count as "side quests". I will check further. Probably I didn't look properly up to now, or I'm lucky and have really not done it yet... (crossing fingers).

I always use Gamerescape because it shows information in a much clearer way than the Lodestone: https://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Mislaid_Plans

The fact that you have "Work it harder, Make it better" is your confirmation that you've finished Mislaid Plans. Try to run the item search command (/isearch skysteel) so the game can attempt to locate anything with "Skysteel" in its name.
You might have left it in a retainer's inventory or your saddlebag. If you opened the coffer and later on visited your GC, there's a chance you might have accidentally turned the tool in for seals (wouldn't be my first time lmao)

If the game can't find anything then you're out of luck and will have to spend the 80k on the new tool.

A small tip: Your Grand Company is blind to the items inside your saddlebag. If you want to make sure you won't ever turn in something important, store it there!

Thank you Shistar! You're right, "Mislaid Plans" is the quest before to get "Work it harder, make it better". So, since I have this last one, it confirms I did the other one and lost the coffer/tool... I will have to pay 80k... Sad.

Aside of that, thank you for the link. I still have the hope to find out why I can't find the quest recorded in my journal and/or in my account database. Will investigate further on that.

Aw man, did the /isearch not find anything? That's super unlucky...

Happy to help! I'll be honest with you, I never use the journal for that since it's notorious for actually not recording a lot of stuff. Still, it might be tucked away in some godforsaken category or something. Wishing you luck in your investigation!

Journal > Completed > Sidequests > Records of Unusual Endeavors > Ishgardian Restoration Quests > Mislaid Plans is right there at the bottom.

Unbelievable...

Unfortunately, this confirms that I already did the quest and have to pay for the prototype.
