Came Back to my House Demolished after Two Weeks

Recently, I took a break after getting tired of the current Relic step. I just logged in this morning to find I had one less teleport access - my house got demolished. I'm still not sure how my house got flagged for demolition, I almost certainly went in it during this month. If the 45 days is before the demolition, it would mean I hadn't been in it since August 6th, which seems very unlikely, as I was fairly active last month, and usually go inside my house while I wait for queues. If it is before the demolition notice, that's even more unlikely, as I definitely was in there at that time. I spent years not only farming gil for this house, but doing submersibles for my housing exterior, so being stripped of it so suddenly just makes me feel so demotivated in playing. I've been happy playing for the past 5 years, and this is the first time I've actually felt like leaving...

I don't expect any recompensation outside what is given back in-game, but I just wanted to express my grievances and just vent. Though I put in the lottery to try to get it back, I am only one out of fourteen, so it's as good as gone for me. I doubt I'll find another medium on my server for a long while, and the amount of lottery entries on my lot proves that. I just feel like I've been cheated out of something I was so happy to get years back, and as I've said, I cannot believe I was not entering my house for that long.

The fact that it got demolished would imply that you haven't been in there since the ~12th of last month at the very least. If you don't have the habit of logging out or checking retainers inside the house but still visit it fairly often, it's super easy to forget to actually go inside often enough...


There's a lot of rumors floating around about the housing timer glitching out and not recognizing you've gone inside, but I've never experienced it myself nor any of my friends have either. Check your email, including spam, to see if you got a notification about the house going to be demolished soon. If you had any tenants they usually receive this email, as well, but they can't actually reset the timer for you. The sad truth is that it's very likely you forgot to visit your house before your break...

this is the very reason i say this system is incredibly bad and flawed it only causes lots of grief an annoyance to the populace at large we'd do so much better if they stopped being so hard headed an stubborn and actually gave us all a private instance all to ourselves thats not tied to demolition this would please everyone who wants to own an keep a house plot. and before any bad actors try to misread me here no i am not saying they should favor one player over the other if the demolition timer goes away it should go away for all housing period full stop. they can keep adding wards if that will make the pro ward people happy but they should have a better alternative apartments are not appealing in the least in their current form most practically get on solely for storage purposes while others just get it begrudgingly because there are no houses available anywhere at all on their server/data center. and its pretty petty an rude to ask someone to leave the place they call home an to then be inconvenienced by the god awful data center visit restrictions

The system is going to look flawed.If you don't use it. But if you're using your house you're never going to notice that demolition timer.

If you're going in that house once a month you don't really want it. And you're playing chicken with the demolition timer , and eventually , you will forget.

An added benefit to an instanced system would be the ability to have your house converted to an instanced plot if your ward plot hits the demo timer. So you lose your spot in the ward, but you still have your home, and more importantly, all your furnishings which you may or may not have paid real money for and/or would need to in order to replace. (I say that last part for those cases where the current 35 days to reclaim your stuff may also be missed after auto-demo, for example, if someone’s in the hospital for an extended amount of time.)

I'm sorry this happened, because of horror stories like this, I made it a habit to go inside my homes daily. I also use my retainers inside my homes as there are horror stories of the game not recognizing you stepping into your home even though you did so you have to interact with your retainers or FC chest to reset the demo timer for sure. I also made it a habit to logout inside my homes daily by having my characters go to bed wit /doze next to their beds to reset the auto demo timer daily. But because I'm a housing enthusiast, I go inside my homes multiple times a day and I understand that doesn't apply to everyone. I hope you're able to win your plot back.

That's why I won't ever be interested in a house unless they change this demolition thing for good. And it's not even that I'm bothered to actually lose the house, but the fact that to get it back you need to go through a lottery, you need to go through all the hard work you put into decorating it again and the expenses of doing so. Housing is a gil sink in XIV.

If I had a guarantee way to get it back again when I returned to the game, I wouldn't mind the demolition part.
