Yes, he was an ARC for 1.0's cinematic and for that part of ShB's. I don't think jobs became a thing until after Yoshida got the reins.
Queue into content and hope you get sprouts and first timers (blind)

The last time I was doing savage content, I was doing close to 90% dps. This was not by choice but due to the lack of needing my heals. When a job does 90% dps, you’re essentially a dps. I wasted lilies so I could use the blood lily on the 2 min meta.
Sorry if I sound a bit jaded, when I stated healing on launch, I really was a healer, now I’m green dps… and I hate it!

The way you wrote your initial comment made it seem you were talking about the class kits, not the actual usage of Said kit.The last time I was doing savage content, I was doing close to 90% dps. Esp. As the designers you critiqued have been mostly dumping even more healing buttons on us since ShB.
Recently I saw a video of a team who was intentionally taking damage to increase LB generation in M6S to speed clear the fight. Apparently the closer to death you get the more LB generation you get when the healer restores your health: Less than 10% health is the goal. I knew we could gain extra LB generation when damage occurred, but I didn't realize how big an LB gauge jump you could get if you are able to get your health bar to less than 10% and a healer direct heals you. Got to wondering if this would be appreciated by experienced healers in normal content roulettes if a player intentionally stood in some mechanics. Recently I have been testing where I could get hit in The Underkeep by the last boss to get LB1 just before my final burst and the boss' death. As a MNK with ilvl 760 gear and food buff up I could get hit by the double beams (where the two beams overlap from the purple orbs being hit by those moving things) and I would almost be dead: I died once when I forgot my food buff had dropped. Anyways I didn't get enough time to ask the healers what they thought about what I was doing. I just typed "LB generation 8)" after they probably watched me stand in harm's way and had a heart attack. What would healers think about players intentionally getting hit to boost LBs? Would this add an extra spice to the boring monotony? Would intentionally getting hit be considered griefing? Thoughts? Healers you could also try to figure out places where you can let players' health drop to below 10%: I assume some DOTs would be perfect for this and you could risk giving those DPS a heart attack. 8)
10% Health LB Generation? 8)
That's an interesting idea, my take though is "do so at your own risk", sure I'll do what I can but if the heals don't land in time I take no responsibility.

It's nothing those days, it used to be abused back in Stormblood and with SCH especially where people would take lethal damage for the game, but wouldn't die due to shields pushing them just above death. You could for example generate 3+ LBs in the gate boss of O8S by doing this repeatedly.Recently I saw a video of a team who was intentionally taking damage to increase LB generation in M6S to speed clear the fight. They nerfed it heavily after, but it's still a thing I think to reward people trying to go for such strats.

I absolutely agree that healers have received a lot more healing spells but they are focused on high mobility, instant cast replacements for our existing kits. This is because they are wanting to make raids faster and more exciting. Standing around and casting is the opposite of their goals so I expect to see more and more instant heals.
My apologies on my lack of clarity in my previous comments.
