They have an aversion to using anything ranged in general, the "poster boy" is consistently a melee, WAR for ARR, DRG for HW, SAM for StB, DRK for ShB, PLD for EW, VPR for DT, which is a goddamn shame, RDM is so much cooler than SAM...

Which in that case I would say is kind of understandable, since melees are easier to create engaging combat scenes for the trailers, having them in close combat doing all the flashy moves, whereas ranged jobs would ideally be further away from the opponent in a 1v1 scenario wider than a ultra-wide can handle.

Please change the "increases healing magic potency by 20%" of Dissipation into "increases HP recovery via healing actions by 20%"!

I mostly agree with this, but you forgot StB also had MNK. Oh, and I think 1.0 had BRD? Not sure how it was back then, but ShB's intro did have BRD in it.

That was actually just a dream, meteor was never canonically a BRD per the 1.0 cutscene though he does have his BRD outfit in the ShB cutscene
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess

The Shadowbringers trailer was almost ranged combat already. The WoL was being pushed back constantly with melee combat happening in passing. The final scene with DRK wasn't even melee and could have been done with spells. Besides, it's not like a ranged character couldn't be put in a melee situation. Phys ranged AoE are shorter ranged than their other actions and their animations look more like a short range desperation attacks than precision ranged strikes. They also have role actions that might be used in proximity and BRD has repelling shot. RDM obviously has a blade. BLM, SMN, PCT all have shields of some kind, mobility tools for dashing around foes, or summons that can engage in close combat. It shouldn't be difficult to build a trailer around a ranged job.Which in that case I would say is kind of understandable, since melees are easier to create engaging combat scenes for the trailers, having them in close combat doing all the flashy moves, whereas ranged jobs would ideally be further away from the opponent in a 1v1 scenario wider than a ultra-wide can handle.

Weird, I could have sworn SCH and WHM are still down damage actions both in a cpm variety and actually spell/ability Count since StB. Half the healer mains that have been complaining since ShB came out would have stopped if what you said was true.

I actually think of that more as an ARC than BRD because he's missing his harp and the trademark flamboyant clothing of a typical BRD. But that's just me nitpicking.

I suspect that more down to earth, the explanation being probably because they already had the high definition movie version of BRD, much like they had DRG, WAR, SAM, MNK already in store from the previous cinematic trailers. Ain't a coincidence that they chose those specific jobs, added to the fact that it consolidated what the player had already seen the WoL as before and leaning a lot more into that all those jobs are now useless vs the Light, leading to the DRK reveal. Two birds one stone.

I have fun just swapping around which healer I feel like playing. Most runs in normal require healing, since most people are casual and don't know everything by heart and make a lot of mistakes.
