And that was my original point, you almost nearly want to turn it into a hack and slash so you don't need to do anything else. Unfortunately, for a game that is crafting/gathering heavy, that's not going to work.

Then NPC it?

I can only imagine that if SE was going to introduce a gil drop from mobs you can expect it to be the same sort of reward as turning it into an NPC.

We all go back to town eventually whilst out in the field, be it to stock up on supplied, new equipment, check for shouts or meet with friends to trade stuff. Just drop it into the NPC's hands on your way past.

EDIT: I'm not trying to argue the point, rather see if there's a middle ground between what is available and what you want from it.
