You should read the interview I linked from Yoshi's translated interview. It's more relevant than an old popular vote.![]()
From what I've seen Dev estimates are never true. Even so, 30 hours isn't very long when you take into account that this is a MMORPG and is meant to take time.
I'd prefer more flavorful things. Aside from holidays, WoW had the Darkmoon Faire (think "ren faire meets creepy circus motif out of a tim burton movie"), which would come to town the first week of every month. The faire had some minigames, and once it got revamped also had dailies and long term goals for players who wanted to take part of them. Gear you could use for transmogrification costing an insane amount of tickets, ways to help people level professions and so on. There were benefits and if gave people something to do.Not sure if anyone else mentioned this...
it would give SE an excuse to update the launcher page with news. It would also be incentive for people to check the website for "weekend events"
They don't even have to be double exp, since that seems to be a major sticking point for people... small weekly/bi-weekly events aren't a bad thing.
While I don't think XIV would benefit from a traveling faire/circus type of thing, the idea is solid. A regular event that you can look forward to with its own rewards and perks while giving you slight boosts to character progression if you're starting out. I'd use the Tantalus Theater Troupe as the base for such an event.

* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
First of all, this just proves you're that 20% and that they'll take this result from the current game into consideration for tweaking 2.0 pace.
At this point you're trying to hard. Stop and save yourself from further embarrassment time traveler

Wait!!!! Noob here, are we starting over in 2.0? It just took me a month to get 3 classes/jobs to 30+ in casual play time. If starting over would be the case then it's pointless to play now.
If this is correct I'll be happy with the speed, but I still dislike EXP periods. As someone said before, this isn't Call of Duty.
But I'll wait for an official translation.
I was the 20%, you're a smart one!
Trying to hard? Right... Oh, and you can spell big words! Good for you! =)
I guess I really shouldn't feed the trolls.
