they just play the mechs and get you a 99 log by doing perfect rotations, from what I heard
Occult crescent has lots of people that use programs which autoress people the second they die or play all the fate mechs without fails
OC also has bots that solo farm enemies for gold coins (the top of that temple, there no fates etc start, has people botting there quite often)

You do not need anticheat to fight botting and hacking.
You can remove 99% of the botters by doing simple server-side checks to flag people, then having a team observe these people to determine if they're botting or not.
Adding anti-cheat into already pretty much dying game is probably not the best decision here. Riot was able to pull that off because their game is hyper popular and they can afford to lose 10%, 20% of their population no problem. FFXIV can not afford that.

I think getting rid of cheaters (specially in PvP) is worth losing your mods lol. That way everyone is playing as intended rather than some people have benefits that others dont.

The universal truth is that there will always be cheaters, the harder you try to stop them, the worse it makes it for the normal players and it will make the cheaters cheat even harder.

I’d rather SE invest in gameplay rather than stop all of the cheaters. You see, the thing about cheaters is that after cheating do so long, they quit. There is no incentive to play the game once they have everything.

If the devs want to have big races that’s are completely legit, they need to have a qualifier system to identify players who truly are world first raiders, invite them to a hotel and then have them play on verified systems.

    Nice joke.

They don't even actively hunt for those underground potatoes spewing their 'ads' in Limsan square and they are super duper noticeable nowadays with the recent chatbox addition lol.

IIUC, the reason it's not done this simply is because if the bots are banned immediately after being noticed and reported, it makes it easier for the bot operators to figure out the specific thing they did to get busted, which allows them to more easily adjust the next set of bots to avoid it.

With ban waves, they only know they did something within a timeframe, which makes their end of the cat and mouse game harder, which is about all you can do in this kind of scenario.

Besides anti-cheat, which would most likely break Linux - including Steam Deck - play, because only a relatively few anti-cheats play nice with Linux, and sometimes only if the publisher specifically chooses a Linux-supporting version (which allows them to sell to Deck users but also can be more vulnerable to cheats getting around), there isn't a lot more you can do.

(Mind you, with the current upcoming developments in WoW-land, anti-cheat in XIV would have the nice side effect of completely putting the Logs business six fulms under, but ... yeah. LOL)

No ammount of bans can stop this rather the approach towards the content iself can reduce the ammount of them.
Why crafting can't be a mini game? Stardew valley did a great job with fishing for example and they tried to make it more fun in ocean fishing.
Since when pressing buttons to reach some numbers is so fun? It's excel simulator.
As for normal content the more repetetive it is , the more it does feel like never ending chore a job well.. you guess.
