Solo Duty: A Feast of Lies

    Hello All

And here I am again due to a solo duty.

    /rant
You know, when players ask for more NPC versions of duties, the counter argument is always: "it's a MMO", not a solo game. Well, OK, I agree on that, but then, why am I forced again and again to solo duties during the msq? I know that there are lot of players who like it, but I don't. They're just a fun-killer to me.
At the top of it, this one now is again with several parts and no short-cuts to return only to last fight. It means tedious repeats of everything every times the last fight fails.
/end of rant (sorry for it, but that did a lot good ).

My problem: I can't manage the fight against Ran'jit, because it's going on too long and soon or later, I can't maintain my health anymore.
The issue is that I spent so much time avoiding AOEs, that I can close to never stop to shoot at Ran'jit, not to forget that regularly, I must give priority to use Physick, in a ridiculous attempt to maintain my health. Out of all that, I don't' have the slightest chance to survive long enough to get Ran'jit down.

My question: Could you please provide me with potential tricks that could ease it and give me a chance to manage it?

Side note: I have not given it a try in very easy mode up to now, simply because am so tired after the first go, that there is no way I can return immediately into it, no matter the level.

As usual, thank you very much in advance for some help.

    What gear do you have?

Also, Physick is useless by that point in the game.

I have the set "Facet of xxx", base level 80, item level 450, with the Exarchic Grimoire il 510. I'm myself level 85.

Edited for a precision: my body is a linen jacket of casting 84/533. I replaced it some days ago so it's no more the Facet one.

You may remember Castrum Meridianum and Praetorium, which are full of cutscenes. They used to be much, much worse. They were originally designed for 8 players, so everyone would skip cutscenes and speedrun through them, leaving new players behind to watch endless cutscenes. Needless to say, the developers never, ever did this again, and half way through the game's life, forced everyone to watch cutscenes in them and eventually revamped them into what they are now.

Solo duties allow them to do battle activities that include cutscenes. But more than that, they couldn't achieve all this outside of the solo duties at the time.

Recently, in the latest expansion, Dawntrail, there was a graphics update and their technology is now at a point where they hardly had any solo duties, and instead did most of it in the open world. This was possible because they can now script NPCs (that only you can see) to run around in the open world, where you follow them, ride with them or they follow you. They can already do those little purple fight circles. So now they only do solo duties if there's some rather complicated thing they want to do that wouldn't work in the open world.

As mentioned above, Physick isn't realistic at that level. It's an action shared with Scholar (a healer) and it scales off a stat that only healers have. So it's useless at your current level.

You could buy a stock of High Quality potions. Super Potions will give you the most healing you can get at that level, but Hyper Potions or Ultra Potions will work as well. They allow you to heal for 20% HP once a minute.

The gear set should mean you get gear synced to the maximum gear level for that duty.

Second time around, choose 'easy' mode. Avoid focused attacks. Utilize your shields and save one for when the dragon heads appear. Only stand still when casting takes a bit of time. Your egi summons is instant, as are Titan and Garuda secondary strikes. Avoid AoEs.

And, probably more important, kill the dragon heads when they appear. Focus on them, ignore damage to Ranjit, until they're dead.

    Duty failed... Again...

This time, it was my fault: When Ran'jit was almost down, 4 fire thingies spawn. Since I couldn't see the pale color text showing that they are targetable, I couldn't understand what I have to do and kept running around a long time, until a different sight angle helped me seeing the targets. I then started to clear them off one by one, but much too late and I got wiped out.

So, I have to redo ALL of it again, since there is no shortcut to last fight... I could cry out of frustration. I know that I will eventually get that done, but in the meantime, what a long no-fun bother it is to me...

Oh DPZ2, we had a cross-over. I saw your post after coming back from failing it again! LOL

The problem is I'm tired when I get out of it, so it's hard on me to return to it immediately. But you're right, very easy mode should help me a lot, so I will take a little breath now and re-give it a try. Let's see.

Sorry All, that's a triple posting due to crossing over with DPZ2 and now reporting to follow up on the issue. My bad.

So, I collected all my courage and returned to it immediately, allowing me to select "very easy" mode. And I made it!

In the very easy mode, the first steps are shorter and rapid. As for the fight against Ran'jit, the amount of AOEs is by far less and the 4 fire thingies don't spawn. So, with also the help of the super-potions (Thx Jeeqbit), it became a piece of cake.

I'm so glad it's over. Now I will focus on getting some fun again, to compensate for the bother... LOL

A big thanks again to you All for supporting me. <3

Ill post a short guide here incase someone finds this later and still needs help.

At the start, just knock down the enemies until your team tells you to move onward. When you get inside and you and Alphy fight the jesters make sure you watch out for the stack marker. They go down quickly enough. That gets you up to the Ranjitt fight. For all intents and purposes, there isnt a time limit here(there is, but its so long you should never time out unless you go afk between sections). Your top priority is dodging. He only has a few patterns(circle, donut, left/right cones, lines through the center, following fireballs, lightning puddles), and none of them are new. Most of his attacks are easier to dodge if you stay at close-medium range rather then far. When he does the fireballs, you can just keep moving to stay safe. When he does lightning, try to stay out of the puddle it leaves. Attack when you have an opening(obviously much easier on some classes, but everyone can do this). When his health gets down enough, he summons dragon heads. At this point he is invincible, and he starts casting his enrage attack(note that he is no longer attacking and thus healing is no longer required). Target and destroy the 4 dragon heads to make him vulnerable, and finish him before his cast bar fills. Fight over. Congratulations, now enjoy the next story beat!

I agree with all what you say. Personally, I found the steps before Ran'jit very fair. Had no troubles at them, even in standard mode.

Now regarding the fight against Ran'jit - at least in my case - it wouldn't have worked without a health potion. Somehow, no matter what, I got damaged over time and needed to rebuild health regularly, even during the "very easy" version of the fight. It was like Ran'jit could always reach me.

Side note: In very easy mode, the 4 x dragon heads don't spawn. This is probably good to know for those - like me - who struggle at Ra'jit fight.
