I'm Still Enjoying the Relic Step

I don't actually understand what is so great about doing exacly the same tasks over and over again?
Specially if you play a bit longer and you did it before for the other relics etc.

Even if the relic is supposed to be a poetics grind it's still about doing the same.

We need innovation how many times are you ready to do the same content people?

I finished the relic last night. I went ahead, completed my Light farm objective and dont get any reward. Like, alright. I complete the tedious task, I run roulettes back and forth - and no I havent grinded to much, I took my time and did daily roulettes.

For the last step, I'm supposed to bring another 1500 tomestones, great. I had enough, but mistake on me, I bought the old material from the vendor. And now, I'm here like - great back to roulette grinding more tomes.

It's frustrating, cause you cannot exchange the materials back. And there is literally no reward for ending this Light grind? No, I'm supposed to pay my 1500 tomes first.

after you get hte light done the next quest is suppose to give you your first upgrade for free. If i read it right the tomestones for upgrades are a reward. you can do this relic step apssively while still being able to cap your 100 tomestones. Got them capped already? use it for materials, or better gear. Cap them again while doping the daily bonus light

You don't get a free weapon after light, you have to pay for it.

I just completed the light quest. Got told to buy the ore, down 1500 tomes for the ore, and when the quest was completed the ore was gone.

The roulettes are making me sink into a depressive state while playing. So to cope I am literally doing my rotation while watching something else on the other screen. I'm about halfway done now.
I was hoping to have the step be doable via fates, since I wanted to level jobs and do the relic as well as gather up gems for tickets to grab the little mount. No such luck. Suffering it is.

At least I am making decent headway into watching supernatural.

*shrugs* I just do it and get it over with. It’s a quicker duty, so I’m in and out with more time to run something else. Seems silly to take a 30 minute penalty for a raid that takes about 20 minutes on a bad day. lol

Everytime i either just watch a youtube video, or leave. I dont care that i died 6x because i didnt move out of the aoe. I just cant bother playing it anymore. i press the 1,2,3 rotation blind, no idea if i accidentaly missed a button. Im just completely sick of those raids. If SE isnt bothering putting more effort into getting those raids good again, im not putting effort into playing it. Youtube gets my focus here.

Its that i dont have any other game atm where i can have nice 30min rounds, or i would have taken that instead of the 20min penalty of having to watch a youtube video.

I have better ways to spend my time.

Who is going to tell them?

Tbf MMO is mostly doing the same things for different rewards over and over again since many players will burn through content faster than devs can create new grinds unless it's time-gated once a week.

I genuinely don't know any online game (be it classic MMO or something else) that doesn't become routinous relatively quickly. Heck, single-player games tend to be routinous, they just have the benefit of being confined within 40-120 hours of gameplay, so the feeling of novely doesn't wear off.

Sure, there are a lot of things that can be improved, but let's not pretend that the need to repeat most content again and again will dissapear like... ever. Because it won't, and not just in FF14.
