    DRK feels super squish in comparison to the other tanks

    So literally the title, DRK has felt bad to play since DT came out, and well I decided to do some testing and number Crunching and well found that DRK is Generally just Worse than the other tanks, in terms of mitigation by a significant margin.

    I decided to put together a google doc of my findings since it's to long to post directly here.

    TL/DR
    DRK’s Mit are at best Equal to WAR’s without the self-healing that WAR has.
    PLD and GNB Both have Significantly Better Mit, while GNB even has more Self-Healing than DRK.
    Additionally, No DRK does not do more damage than the rest; it's actually kind of tied for 3rd place with Warrior, with PLD and GNB doing more, though the exact Damage numbers are negligible.
    The Mitigation Numbers however, are not so Negligible. Almost every other DRK main I’ve talked to has noticed that DRK feels SIGNIFICANTLY squishier than the other tanks.

    And I’m sure some of y’all remember the start of Dawntrail where DRK’s would literally fall over if the boss looked at them funny.

    So I noticed as well that many others are also posting that they feel DRK needs to change, so I guess this can be here just to show just how poorly the Job is performing in terms of Mitigations.

    I haven't had this problem. I tank wall pulls in dungeons just fine on DRK. Those DRK are doing something VERY wrong.

    If you actually use your mits then dungeons aren't a problem. You also have abyssal drain (basically a benediction in packs) as well as living dead (yet another benediction).

    how is that “at best equal”

    As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.

    I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess

    I tried to fix it so maybe it works now, but to explain

    TBN counts towards HPS so this is how I counted it as cure potency

    Warrior has 28 seconds of 20% Mitigation in a 3 minute period
    28 seconds of 10% mit
    Excluding Warrior's self healing that averages to about 15% mit for 56 seconds

    While DRK has
    40 seconds of 10% Mit from Oblation

    30 seconds of 20% Magical Mit
    and 30 Seconds 10% Physical Mit from the same ability

    Totaling 70 seconds, with an average mitigation of
    15% for magical
    and 10% for Physical

    For Physical WAR has better mit for about 14 seconds less

    Including TBN and WAR's Self healing then we get to see WAR does a substantial amount more self healing than DRK More than making up for the lack of mitigation.

    Okay here going any further is this in regards to dungeons? Because I have no idea why you would count TBN as HPS and care about average mitigation rather than ability to put mitigation up for a single hit

    Because outside of dungeons calling TBN HPS is close to ridiculous and nothing but long dungeon pulls cares about average mitigation over time

    I just carried a Meso Terminal so hard on DRK just in response to this thread. It isn't bad. I think your logic (op) is operating under some flaws.

    Also more homogenization doesn't mean good.

    3 issues with your argument, One you're talking dungeons specifically.
    Which for the most part so long as you hit Rampart every so often you'll be fine in dungeons.

    Secondly You make the assumption that every healer is going to let you use Living dead.
    I more often than not Tell my healers ahead of time I plan to use Living Dead, just for them to ignore me and it get's wasted.

    Thirdly, You clearly didn't take the time to look at any of the stuff I put together explaining this.

    To note, Yes DRK Functions fine.
    That doesn't mean it can't feel underpowered.

    I am Also a DRK main, and I've cleared all but one EX, I'm not talking out my ass, I've been playing for years and I'm not the only one who's noticed it.

    I'm not saying any of this because I dislike the class, I love DRK
    Which is why I have to acknowledge that it feels like it's falling behind the other tanks.

    And the fact that these forums are FILLED with people requesting DRK changes only goes to show I'm not alone in this.

    This is more in reference to end game Content, like EX and Savage
    it's also much easier to calculate a 25% hp shield as equal to a 25% heal than as a flat mitigation. tbh that's kinda all it is, it's just a heal that can go over your max.
