If they raise the sub, I sure as hell won't be able to comfortably afford it. It's costing me the same amount as a 2kg bag of cat food as it is. Exchange rates and all. So while I hear peoples concern about cash shop stuff, I would rather they do that vs upping the subscription price.

Not to mention the quality of the game and the extensive cahs shop barely justify FFXIVs sub nowadays.
Hell we are talking about a game thats mode of storytelling, voiced cutscenes, release schedule, content variety and such even falls behind some f2p Gacha games.

How about:
Decrease the sub fee so people playing FFXIV only pay what's going back into FFXIV or finally use the money FFXIV generates mostly for FFXIV.

I don't dislike F2P for the free cost, I dislike them for gacha, which ruins everything else in them, turning them into a virtual casino than a game.

As long as FFXIV has a paid sub, I'm free from such suffering from gacha hell and pointless grinding for like 50c of prem currency.

Depends on the Gacha tbh. But that's as low as I can compare the mentioned points of FFXIV.
Cause comparing release schedule, content variety alone to quite a few f2p MMOs would make it look even worse for FFXIV imo.

I do dislike RNG which is why I hate the first Relic step. Don't like mindlessly grinding Fates and tying RNG farming on to that with no pity system is even worse.... it wastes my time with no sure progress.

Also, I've played the grandfather of all gacha which is Maple Story and Nexon's F2P MMO for ages before I quit since they all went into lewd women's outfits in loot boxes. Then I've played like GI for a few months and other mobile games from different companies until like 5-6 years ago it's bad not because it's this exact gacha game is bad but it's ALL bad since gacha itself is always predatory even if you're F2P it's supported by whales and others with gambling addictions.

It doesn't matter if it's gacha for character banners or cosmetics it's all just pure gambling on RNG except each 10 pack is $30 which adds up fast with the pity being $200+

Problem:

• There are a lot, way too many items that are unobtainable in game that you can only get using cash.... snipping the rest

the community cried for this since they started with the free phanta's with the collector's edition in 2013 and for completed the MSQ in ARR. We warned you lot this would happened but nope, how the masses we would pay 20, 30 , 40 bucks for phantas and anything else. This is the community's outcome.

I have legacy pricing and pay either 6.99 or 7.99 a month and I barely feel even that is worth it anymore.

When you add in their absurd idea to lock extra storage behind a retainer sub on top of the regular sub you realize how horrible their whole monetization system is. If they would at least make things account wide it wouldnt feel so scummy, but nope.

I also pay the legacy price doesn't feel too expensive to me, but when I add a couple of retainers and then I have to pay for store items that really should be in the game idk.

I can understand that it could be good if plyers can afford some of the items but things like music rolls and emotes and dyes should be in game items, I feel the tactics gear should have been given for free and also there are things I have had bought from family that should be account wide that one really annoys me.

I do not want my sub to go up any higher though as the game is not really catering for me as much as I would like. I did all my raiding years ago and not into savage as I cba.

I do buy the odd hairstyle as they are not that expensive but they should be given in game. It seems to have gotten worse over time.

I absolutely, completely agree.

I played another MMO (don't really want to go into too much detail about which as really not interested in discussing that game in itself) for 11 years. It was great in the beginning; it started life as a subscription based MMO but the developing studio changed and after about twelve months they changed the business model to F2P. And that was okay initially. But over the years the number of new episodes became less. The number of new gamble boxes and expensive (£300 expensive) cash-shop 'bundles' grew and grew until it became clear that the game had become little more than a gamblebox selling platform with little interest in catering for anyone other than the whales and gambling addicts in it's playerbase.

I'll take FFXIV's business model over a gamblebox fuelled business model every single time!
