Stop Online Store Items

Considering inflation, I’d prefer the cash shop over SE raising subscription fees. Still, the cash shop would feel more balanced if every item sold there had an equivalent free alternative available in-game. (And I mean something stylish and fitted, not another goofy oversized jacket.)

I'll keep this short most MMO's now days have a cash shop. They all have forums and have players who complain about the cash shop, yet not a single one of these MMO's despite years of complaints have ever removed them. There is a very easy way to stop it: do not buy cash shop items. If they will not make any money from the cash shop, they will stop it.

In any game, for each players who says something bad about the Cash store there at least 10 out there who will open there wallets no matter how loudly people rally against it.

People cried about this $90 pre tax mount and this how Dornogal was. I know on Illidan there was a parade of at least 20 of them "flexing on the poors"

I actually agree, and from a business perspective I can't really blame them for trying to make more as long as it's not a detriment to the game. Personally I prefer they keep the casual wear on the cash shop and keep all of the high fantasy stuff in game. That said there is one thing that grinds my gears that people don't talk about, and that is the blatant double dipping with event items.

This one actually pisses me off. I've been gaslit in the past so many times particularly back in EW when I would complain about the lack of content, and so many people would tell me "The events are what the sub pays for as continued content along with the main development of patches." Which is all fine and dandy except after every event, those items usually go up on the Mog Station as paid items never to return as event items. Tell me why I can't get a damn Christmas tree for my apartment without having to pay for one off the mog station. Tell me why getting decent looking Halloween decorations is impossible without pulling out my credit card. It's because they use our sub money not to generate replayable content, but instead fund the creation of items that they then RESELL BACK TO US and new players on the mog station.

That is actually the most scummy sales tactic this game utilizes and more people should be pissed about it. ESPECIALLY considering the game is in the current state that it's in. Like how sick would it be for current or new players to be able to grind out old event items during event times with a genuinely fun event with a replayable game loop. It doesn't have to be complicated but it gives people a reason and a want to play together and it's NOT a new or novel MMO concept either.

I wish there where way more rewards in the game like some of the outfits and definitely the hairstyles. They could have added a nice outfit for the rising event instead I got a minion that I do not really care for. They also need to have a NPC moogle similar to FFXI where you go and can buy old event rewards so everyone can have them, I do not mean things like legacy or PVP but the events that have been and gone.

I know they are adding some new outfits and hair and I will probably buy them but that is because they are lacking in the hair and good outfit department. I really hope they stop all this disco streetwear shit it is all the same rolled into one. I also saw the hairstyle for the mobile game with a toggle and I know loads of players would kill for that but the price of it omg and here we are still not even in our version of the game.

I do choose to spend my money on the odd thing from the shop and I am probably like others just wanting a nicer hairstyle or outfit because the game sadly does not add them.

In fact there are many ppl that want cosmetic items to be on cash store so they can just buy it and not spend hours grinding for it.
I used to be against cash shops but seeing those ppl I think its ok.
Also without the store or raising sub fee this game will be a terrible business compared to how much money other AAA live service games make these days with gachas.

I doubt anyone in the community can answer that question factually with any real confidence.

However - I, personally, would actually be quite concerned if this were the case. We do know that FFXIV is SE's biggest cash-cow. We also know that much of the income the game generates via subscriptions doesn't get fed back into the game itself.
And whilst have no evidence to support this, popular opinion seems to suggest that the income the cash-shop generates does get fed back into the game itself.

Therefore I guess the question would be 'how much profit does the cash-shop generate' - because they'd pretty much have to account for that profit-loss into this theoretical sub-increase.

Yes but I'm sure SE would create the worst of both worlds options, like collect 100 xmas tokens at 3% drop rate for 1 small tree each if it were added back into the game as old holiday rewards.
