SDS Fenrir (bike) only works on the ground (not during flight). Slight advantage when collecting aether current for new expansion. (Almost negligible, and definitely not P2W).I see the problem with the Cash Shop, and yes, the sheer scale of it is overwhelming. It is simply too much for any player to own everything, and the prices are far too expensive compared to other existing games.
I won't defend it, but I will say this: The shop literally has nothing of true value to purchase other maybe a couple of things like Cloud's bike. That bike looks cool and actually helps with speed across all maps, which makes it a (P2W) item.
Furthermore, purchasing a single emote for a single character is absolutely extreme; it's an unnecessary squeeze on players and should be an account-wide purchase. While I don't want them to remove the shop entirely, they absolutely need to revise it.
Bloody hell, you're right! I always felt it was faster than the other flying mounts, but no, it only affect when grounded. As for the P2W, I should have said QoL - Quality of life for early game or like you said the Aether Current.

Just popping in here to say that if you don't have the Fenrir bike yet and you're willing to spend more, the Garlond bike is a 2-seater that also has the speed boost when grounded (and is also account bound). If I can do basic math, it seems to be about $7 more expensive. Whether that price increase is worth or not depends on the user, but I really like the mount myself and use it a ton. Alpha is just so cute (but I wish he let my friend sit where he is when needed! Greedy birb.)
I have the SDS Fenrir bike because I'm a big fan of FF7 (Cloud). As for Garlond bike (& Chocobo Carriage) I'm waiting for discount before buying!Just popping in here to say that if you don't have the Fenrir bike yet and you're willing to spend more, the Garlond bike is a 2-seater that also has the speed boost when grounded (and is also account bound). Haha true, the SDS is just super sleek. I'm a big fan of being able to drive my friends around though and I enjoy the vintage bike style more myself. To me, it was worth getting the Garlond bike over the Fenrir!
I really need to get around to playing other FFs. I've heard lots of good things about 7.
The chocobo carriage is suuuuper cute, but it's a bit uncomfortable to use because the balloons that may it float are just huge. If the camera could allow you to see through them with a toggle or something it'd be my favorite 4-seater! I always end up using the Regalia because it doesn't block my view. I can't wait for them to add an 8-seater that doesn't have the characters disappear into the void of the mount lol I wanna see my friends hanging out while we do treasure maps!
Yoshi-P recently complained about server costs and even brought up the online store when discussing something completely unrelated (mods) in an official post. All I can say is: brace for impact. FFXIV hasn't experienced a real downtrend since A Realm Reborn, and we may just be seeing the beginning of one.
They've implemented "content for everyone" with a difficulty slider, but most players don't even engage with it because the rewards aren't compelling. Veterans are leaving due to the lack of content, and it's increasingly difficult to attract new players when they have to slog through hundreds of MSQ hours just to reach endgame and play with friends — a requirement that only gets bigger as time goes on.
Yes, times are hard and they can not redirect near-100% profit made by FFXIV outside of FFXIV anymore. Doesn't means more items need to be taken out of game content and put into store. Just means that it's time to reroute revenue back into FFXIV and cut funding of dead-on-arrival side projects nobody asks for.Yoshi-P recently complained about server costs and even brought up the online store when discussing something completely unrelated (mods) in an official post. I support this but only under the understanding that the game will die faster. They should remove online store and increase entry subscription fee to 20€ and standard subscription fee to 30€.
Price of the game starter edition should be increased to 80€, each expansion increased to 70€ and complete edition increased to 150€.
This way SE gets more money without having online store to contiune keeping servers up and making content patches and expansions.
And all good cosmetics should only be rewarded from ultimate raids and chaotic alliance raids.
