What I want to see is not necessarily new jobs, but them going into specs and introducing "new jobs" this way. Like Paladin-> tank-> healer-> dps based on what spec you select. BLM-> Fire mage-> ice mage-> Magician.. and so on.

I'm hoping for a Rune knight/Mystic knight Tank I think that woudl be really neat.
I really don't understand all the talk about job homogenization. Like at their cores are the tank/healer jobs similar? yes they all tank and heal. But they all play differently to me and have different benefits at this point... If you ask people what job they like and dislike they will always have an answer but if they are all the same how is that possible unless they are just going off of aesthetic?
I don't think a full re-work of all jobs would go over well with the community. For every person excited for the re-work there will be another screaming about how the job is dead and square ruined everything. Plus doom posters woudl read to deeply into it and even with all the work that woudl go into an effort like that they woudl still call the devs lazy because they don't have the new shiny thing. They have been doing so many QOL fixes and adjustments the last couple expansions and all people can focus on is doom-posting and parroting whatever their favorite streamer is mad about this week.
Sorry this is rambly there were a few things in this thread I saw that I wanted to respond to but I'm still kinda new to forum posting :/

While it seems popular to say "no new jobs" and then believe that the playerbase will be happy with whatever reworks they do, as though the playerbase was happy with prior attempts at reworks, I have to selfishly say I want a Blitzballer as the 4th phys range.
I know that a caster or healer aren't probably next in line, but for either of those, I feel that XIV lacks a true Druid/Shaman RPG archetype seen in DnD and other games. No, not CNJ - I honestly don't think it ever went fully into that fantasy, even when they had a strong thematic elemental kit back in the day.. let alone the "Holy Mage" that WHM became.
I feel there's a lot of elemental magicks in XIV, but not nearly enough nature-based, as in manipulating vegetation. Heck, even in the FF series as a whole, I don't remember anything like this. so it would be kind of an unique job archetype.

I would be interested to see if any of the OC phantom jobs find their way into becoming 'full' jobs. I mean, the framework is already there, what with there being animations and tabs etc.

Eh, it's not that selfish. Personally I would prefer no new jobs in order to give better identity to the current ones... however there's no established means right now for CBU3 to develop features, then give them to players to test, then to receive feedback on and iterate on. As is it's a real dice roll whether spending the "new job" budget on revamping old jobs would accomplish anything meaningful.
If the devs are doing anything for a new tank, I hope it's very eastern inspired... it'd be nice to have more things in the same realm as Samurai or Ninja, especially for other roles.

It's more likely what weapon they will add to the game at this point.
Weapons I'd like to see: Big fkn Hammer, Chain sword/whip, fighting staff.
Coeurl - Astrologian - Wannabe Fisher
Gunner. Like FF X-2 Yuna Gunner, dual pistols, focused purely on Gun Kata, sure we have Machinist for a gun-wielding job, but MCH is too much of an engineer job that happens to use a gun sometimes, and if we can have 6 different Jobs that wield some variety of sword(PLD, DRK, GNB, SAM, VPR, RDM), having different varieties of guns should be fine.

That's a nice reference for an aiming job, really.Gunner. Make those magic pistols that you need to craft ammo on the go to keep your rotation rolling... something of a cross between Mudras and Motifs.
Make beast master happen as a real job... oh wait....
