No one has said that there will be pointlessly low exp from mobs, just that questing will be faster. In fact it may only be faster solo. You never know until you start.

A good thing to consider is that there's currently an endgame exp grind (spiritbond), which would be after the last stop on the rails.

If mobs give no exp then how do they expect us to SB? Well... I think the answer is that mobs give exp.

You mean I am forced to go through the content the developers worked their ass off creating for me? The insanity! Id rather have them create an open world fill it with mobs and say get to it! Only 500,000 more to kill until your cap! But now i may have to follow a story line and progress through the game and story in a organized manner! Now instead of wandering the world lost and confused with my web browser open to figure out where to go next, i can clearly see the path in front of me this is an outrage! *rolls eyes* I want to play FFXI 2.0! (ffxiv 1.0) not FFXIV 2.0!

They NEVER said that you can't grind xp in parties, they said that it would not be 100% the most optimal, best of the best way. It was never stated that it would no longer be viable.

Don't like it? Don't do it. Still don't like it? 2.0 isn't the game for you.

I got to page 5 and couldn't read anymore. After writing three paragraphs arguing against Rokien's bullshit, I've decided not to dignify this troll with little more than one paragraph of dismissal. This guy is a notorious troll, people. That anyone believes him over what they can find in interviews is beyond me. Speaking of which, Rokien, you should have your reading comprehension checked.

I have expressed concerns about this in 14 other threads but apparently Rokien is a lighting rod for these discussions. I am definitely concerned over the MMO on rails concept. However, Yoshi has earned a lot of my trust with how he turned 1.0 around. So, I am definitely concerned, not only because I don't like that style but I feel many others don't either. For example, if you go to a site like mmorpg.com you see forums full about how people hate this type of game structure and want new gameplay mechanics or fresh sandbox games. I personally won't like a MMO on rails but I also think it will fail altogether since people are sick of that gameplay.

Hopefully, SE will recognize this and do a good job masking it with story (a la the Hildibrand quests) or make them somewhat dynamic (TSW, GW2).

    We will see.

Or you could just run away, changing servers while crying.

Question of someone who has got no idea:

What else then either a world with various unconnected quests and grinding or chained quests could be there?

I think there is nothing wrong with this style if it is dynamic, vivid and has got a thrilling and deep storyline. You could make the story not entirely linear but more like a tree: Having one linear line with many side branches maybe.
So it would feel less static and more like an open world. But to me it sounded as if this is where Yoshi is heading anyways (please correct me if I'm wrong).

But really, I prefer playing content and story over grinding that's not connected to content. I mean, I don't want to start playing the actual game when I have reached the level cap...
I want to dive into the game from the start.

The only alternative I could imagine would be to mix grinding/unrelated quests and quest chains. :x

Nope. Hence the line "Question of someone who has got no idea".
I was serious about that phrase.
