Quest based leveling mmos still often give you other ways of leveling. For example when I played WoW I didn't care for quests that much I leveled up a Paladin and a Hunter with questing. I wanted to level a DK but no I wasn't going to go through those same boring quests again. So what I did was finished my starting area. Went tank, got instant queues as a tank in dungeon finder spammed dungeons until I was at level cap. Did it pretty casually too only took a week of playing a few hours each day. So when I was level capped I hardly did any quests on my DK.
It sounds like FFXIV will give you choices, dungeons, quests, or mob grinding, so I don't see the big deal about complaing about quests so much because you get choices.

What do you think quests are? Same scheme, just with wider locations. Whether questing, or by exp camp, it's all the same grind. Both should have very comparable levels of exp gain. No reason a game in this day and age has to stick to one, dull system over the other.

I don't know Rokien, can your truly name about the same number of changes to the game that you like, compared to the changes that you obviously hate?
If you can't and your still playing in 2.0, I know the name of a good Sadist looking for her own gimp.
You quoted about half of what was actually said, then made it out to prove your specific view point.
Here is the full quote:He was referring to the initial start of the game. Please make sure you give context to what you quote, otherwise you come off as being an ass.Yes, when you first reach a area by following the “!” (Exclamation mark) it leads to another ! We are currently making those links. By playing just like that you can reach level 7-8 fast. Also that also is linked to learning the game system so it will differ from current play style.

That's Rokien, he'll ignore past responses, or parts of interviews, hones in on a few keywords and lets his imagination run WILD. And if the first thread doesn't get enough/his desired responses, well he'll just make another one!
Crap, I clicked on a Rokien thread.
I understand some people love to mindlessly grind on monsters till there blue in the face and that is completely fine you can still do that in 2.0. However, the quest system is in place not only to level but to have interesting storylines ( even if they are minor ones) I mean Saving a Farmer from 10 Beastman invading there farm, or Saving a lady from a Dragon etc. Personally I hope for something along the lines of this:
Quest 1: Scout Area and find clues on who kidnap the lady ( 700 exp)
Quest 2: After collecting clues you notice on of the clues came from X place, you are to investigate the land to find the Princess's whereabouts.
Quest 3: Seeing that you got spotted and you had to fend off the attack, the enemy will be on high alert, You must go underground and sneak out the Princess out of the Enemy's Hide out!
Quest 4: The Enemy has Spotted and you and Surrounded you! You must find away to fend off the attack and flee when the chance opens up
Quest 5: You almost made it home when the Boss of the Enemy shows up and you must defeat him/her!
^ This kind of quest chaining I like to see, of course 1 Quest and done like helping out a farmer is always welcome ^.^.
Also, not every game is ment for everyone, when 2.0 comes out and it's not the one for you, just find another MMO to play you shouldn't be biting your self in the foot because you feel like you "Have" to play. There are other games out there, I recommend to don't play something you don't want to play.

I honestly can't imagine that grinding on mobs won't be plausible anymore because as long as we're not forgetting this.. FFXI/XIV have always been about leveling on the one character only.
Quests worked for other games because they were static and repeated for each new character/job.
I personally hope all the quests are almost all a one off event for the sake of getting your first or second level 50.
From then on it would make sense story wise that your skills grew into the classes by practicing them in your own time, rather then running back to farmer joe and killing those pesky nutbiters.

I hoping its not Quest base XP > Parties.. or Exploring area's "!" go here. i want to be like where is that pesky npc at again o.o maybe we will get to turn off the helper and be able to play normal but still i worry about XP base
Let my Fishing people go! At least make fishing a second class one for boring and other for hardcore Fishers!
