Its a quest I don't have to run to go get. Thats basically it lol.
Yeah its basically a more convenient version lol. My only gripe is that you can't grind mobs for good xp. I hate questing. At least I can get xp in WvW, thank god.furthermore, people complaining about WoW's questing system is odd to me because no matter how you slice it, gw2 is quest-based leveling. you almost can't level without it. grinding mobs nets you close to zero xp. and while yes, you can choose which quests to participate in and in which order, you're still effectively accepting or declining the quest just the same as if you were to pick it up from an NPC. the difference is you just automatically get it if you're in the area and automatically decline it if you leave. if anything gw2's questing system is dumbed down even moreso than WoW's.
Lmao the funny part is people think its vastly different. Thats why ads work so well, generally the population is rather clueless. The best thing about GW2 is the ally system, but for some reason that hardly gets any press. Having everyone around you count as party members in the open world is sooo handy. No kill stealing, no loot stealing, ppl will actually go out of their way to help you, all because everything counts for everyone as long as they contributed to the kill. Genius. Although obviously this doesn't work in every MMO for lore reasons. But its so smart I'm surprised I haven't seen it before.and again, i'm not even remotely saying gw2 is a bad game. it's a really good game for its intended market and does what it does pretty well. it just seems like people blindly leap to prejudgments about this or that game and then wildly defend/attack it against all logic/reason/evidence.
so now i'm just sitting here laughing at my desk about people complaining about "wow clone" this and "wow clone that" (usually without having ever actually played wow), only to defend games that either also rip it off, appeal to the same demographic, make the same mistakes, or do pretty much exactly the same thing but slap on a fresh coat of paint or fancy new buzzword term to describe it.
Really the only thing GW2 changed in terms of questing is removing the need to run back and forth all the time. Now you can just stay out of town, or the quest hub, and go where you want while still being able to pick up quests. What sucks is that lvling is really slow if you miss events.
