Exactly my point.
Red mage may have been in the series from the start, in fact, it is one of the original 3 "jobs" presented in the series, but it was never what some people think it to be.
In fact, this wiki entry pretty much nails what Red mage is, and that vision was very clearly interpreted and portrayed in FFXI.
"However, being unable to wield or use the highest level magic or equipment, the Red Mage is generally relegated to a support position. They are a jack of all trades, but a master of none."
If Red mage ever did appear in XIV, it would very likely be much more relevant in its swordplay than say, XI. It wouldn't make much sense for that one aspect to overshadow the other aspects of the job (black magic, white magic, debuffs, buffs, etc). When all these things are combined, you get a very powerful class and so obviously it needs to be toned down and that's where the tears will come.

Which doesn't work in an MMO and forces the developers to give it a menial and iconoclastic "role" because it would otherwise have no other use in-game, easily proven by XI.
Considering the context of this game and the armoury system, yes, swordplay would be a lot more relevant for RDM. That's not a bad thing, as it prevents stupid things like RDM with a staff from overtaking everything else. It also forces the developers to make the melee and magic sides of RDM mesh and combine into something, which is a huge improvement over "here's a sword, some white magic, some black magic".If Red mage ever did appear in XIV, it would very likely be much more relevant in its swordplay than say, XI. It wouldn't make much sense for that one aspect to overshadow the other aspects of the job (black magic, white magic, debuffs, buffs, etc).
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)

the higher your hope fly, the more it hurt when it not happen

Fact #1: Gunblades exist in FFXIV.
Fact #2: No traditional FF job uses gunblades.
Therefore I make the following proposition:

Heres an idea:
Class = Fencer/ FNC - one handed sword fighter DD that can't use shields but deals increased damage in a two handed stance/grip.
Then RDM could be a melee mage hybrid DD(without tank abilities) and everyone is happy.

iThis isnt ffxi two handed grips dont even exist in xiv yet so i think your getting ahead of yourself there but Rdm not using a shield would makes sense since parry and shield block dont stack currently.
I cant say i want to see a tanking Rdm maybe temporarily in battle since that would fit in with its style of taking emergency action when things go horribly wrong but thats about as far as i'd like to see it go.

To be fair this is FFXIV and RDM don't exsist either... so how am I getting ahead of myself? This isnt ffxi two handed grips dont even exist in xiv yet so i think your getting ahead of yourself there but Rdm not using a shield would makes sense since parry and sheild block dont stack currently. I would just like to see a sword class (that doesn't use a shield) that is a damage dealing class.
