massive freezing and performance issues following 7.3 patch update

ever since patch 7.3 released, the game has been running poorly and stuttering/freezing constantly where it never did prior to 7.3 's release.

this is not an issue with my computer. i originally thought that it was and actually upgraded the weaker parts but still the issue persists. i was hoping the patch on tuesday would address the performance issues, but it seems to have made it worse. i believe something within 7.3 is broken. i heard that the graphics were 'upgraded' a bit with 7.3's release, so maybe the fault lies there??

i don't know. all i know is the game ran flawlessly before 7.3 and now i'm having constant freezes when there's more than a few people on the screen at once or there's even just a tiny bit going on visually. i just teleported to ul'dah and froze for a solid 5 seconds before the camera whipped around and i was able to play again.

i have all graphical settings set to max. lowering graphical settings doesn't help.

GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 (a few months old)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X (less than a month old)
    RAM: 32GB

recently they added a thing that displays more characters on screen at larger distance which can chug your performance if it is set to max urn that setting down to low or mid. There is also another setting that will save resources when you tab out of the game or when you are afk it limits FPS. play with settings a bit I hope it works for you :3

if still issues look at your task manager to see if any other tasks are taking up resources 14 is a very light on resources game so very few things will cause it to preform worse.

like i said, it happens even when there's only just a few people on the screen and even happens frequently in alliance raids which has never once caused me performance issues prior to 7.3. that setting you mentioned isn't on max either, and that 'save resources when tabbed out' setting is also already enabled. regardless, my computer should be more than capable of handling the game at max settings without any issue, and as i said, lowering settings doesn't change anything i'm not getting any framerate issues either, it's a stable 60FPS and never dips under that

i've looked in task manager as well like you suggested and my computer is not using much resources at all. for my cpu, the highest thing is FFXIV at 4% usage, everything else is under 1% and my overall cpu usage is 5%. for my memory/RAM, the highest is FFXIV at 3471MB and overall memory/RAM usage is 47%

this just makes me think there's something wrong with the game itself and it's not on my end i've run file integrity checks and everything turned up fine. i don't know what to do. i don't think there's anything i can do

EDIT: meant to reply with quote but i must've just clicked 'reply' instead, my bad!

Glad to see it isn't just me, it's happening on PS5 as well. After the patch and emergency maintenance the game stutters randomly in cities and in dungeons and trials. I was starting to think it was something in my system but now I'm seeing it was the patch since I had zero issues with any other game I play.
