Some mobs don't get claimed until well after you've engaged them

    Platform: PC
    ISP: AT&T
    Type of Internet Connection: DSL
    Internet Connection Speed: 768k
    Date & Time:
Frequency: everytime we do the leve
    Character Name: Jesimae Citrose
    Race: Hyur F
    World: Palamecia
    Class/Skill Rank: any class
    Physical Level: any level
Area and Coordinates: mostly Camp Broken Water area
    Party or Solo: party
    NPC Name:
    Monster Name:
    In-Game Time:
    Steps:

Sometimes mobs do not get claimed immediately after you perform an action on them, as a result you get less SP because their names don't turn Red until after their HP is below 100%. This happens most often with bombs during "Dunesfolk for Dinner" battle leve at broken water, regardless of the difficulty setting.

This bug has been around for over a month and still has not been resolved. I am not the only one experiencing the issue, as several of my friends have encountered it as well.

Here is the problem broken down into steps:

    1. Mob is sitting unclaimed, 100% HP
    2. Player performs any action on mob, it reacts and begins to attack us, but name does not turn red
    3. Several seconds pass before the name finally turns red
    4. As a result, enemy give less SP than when we kill the same mob that was claimed at 100% HP

How do we know that? We tried claiming the same type of mob, that is the same level, with an ablilty that does not do any damage while we do not have Shock Spikes or Barbed Spikes on, so the mob takes no damage. Once the mob turns red, we kill and see the full SP.

Monsters that 'suddenly appear' have a claim delay of 2-3 seconds. This is the same for monsters that just respawn in an area as well.

I Assure you, it is an anti-bot method put in place for the 'insta claim' bots that were seen in ffxi. it really should be removed tho, because it is usually when the enemy attacks you that it can be claimed, and because of that it hits first. and if you have shock spikes, loss of sp.

I'd be ok with that explaination except for two reasons.

    Point 1
This happens too inconsistently to be a wide-spread counter-meansure.

Surely you've done necrologos-type leves where you examine the light, the mob pops, and every party member immediately attacks it. In many areas I have never seen this claim issue, like Cedarwood. We pop the mob, we immediately attack it, it immediately goes red, and we get full SP. Meanwhile, it happens -rarely- in Cassieopia (Necrologos: Inferno) and Halatali (various leves) from what I've seen. It happen very often at broken water, specifically during "Dunesfolk for Dinner".

    Point 2
If this was some sort of botting counter-measure to stop "insta-claim" bots... why would we need it for leve mobs which can only be seen/claimed by people doing the leve? That's completely pointless, so either SE implemented a useless counter-measure, or this is a claim bug.

I've noticed that there're wide spread problems with the claim system as a whole, but as I understand it, they're revamping the whole thing anyway.

I've run into your problem a few times, but the problem I've run into a lot is fighting a mob with a party, then the mob suddenly becomes unclaimed for no real reason right before we kill it, causing everyone to lose the SP we would've gotten for the kill.

    Hello everyone!

Thank you for taking the time to enter all the detail that is needed, Jesi. It could be frustrating to not gain the full amount of SP if you brought it down from 100% health. We will gladly forward the concern to be looked into. Any updates will be posted within the forums as they become available. Thanks again!
