Regardless, I like if the approach is a different method every step. Hopefully the later ones will fully involve the North Horn and Forked Tower: Magic of the OC.

I think the array should've had more options for grinding, even if the quantities were bellow 100 points of progrees in a crystal. Giving several choices for speeding the grind would've been neat, some of them being:
- Hunts
- Vana'diel Alliance Raids
- Extreme and Savage clears
- Occult Crescent and Forked Tower
- FATEs, Treasure Hunts, Wondrous Tails
Even if people will tend towards the path of least resistance, having options for detours that could appeal to people averse to the main method would be great. Which is also why I would like a step that salvages otherwise useless currencies and tokens (like Society Quests or EX totems) among other things. And, while some people would throw a fit, I want to see more chances for crafters to be involved.

I'll say it...
there should be a step that involves your Squadron. Yes, this is the hill I will die on along with my beloved toppled, unused LoV machines!

Eureka remains one of my favorites as well. I liked the culture around it and that you knew you were taking a day or few hours to spend time grinding in a zone. Common courtesy of waiting to pull NMs because they didn't just "respawn" vs the whole rush from one critical encounter to the next only to get there when it ends. Etc etc. But I get it's not for everyone.
Through twilight, we endure.
I think there would be a burnout of farming the same boss over and over as there would always be an optimal farm choice...You know how each of the roulette has a specific element tied to the Aetherwell Array? Why not assign elements to specific duties and have us do those instead?
Like Ifrit and Hells' Lid giving fire, garuda and Xelphatol giving wind. Depending on what kind of duty it is it could give more or less aether.
... Though to be fair all I get is CT on alliance raid.
Maybe if they rotated the bosses each day and it was a one time bonus light? But then players would be expected to learn a lot of extremes (if thats what you were implying).

that's what gets me, and why i call the community fickle. You have 100 different answers, the devs look at those answers, and pick the ones that seem popular, and then the other people who didn't ask for those features will complain that wasn't what they wanted.

Allow me to do what I like doing in the game, if the devs cannot provide anything engaging to do (fates are not engaging and neither is spamming CEs/fates in OC).
The problem of relics isn't that they're a grind, it's that they rely on excruciatingly mind numbing pieces of content, so if we can't have anything actually fun with good shelf life (like pvp or actual rogue lites) then I'd rather be able to pick what I like doing.
I am fine with poetics.
The problem is that gear doesn't affect your skills in any meaningful way than crit + 0,5% etc. I rather have them focus on talent trees or gear that changes how we use our skills. They just need to remove the dust from the PvP trait system in 2.x and implement it for PvE with a relic traitpoint system
To me the Shadowbringers Relic was the ideal way to do it.
This comes from the experience of actually going them.
When the content was new, it was a huge grind to do my Dark Knight Weapon, yet the three alternate jobs I wanted a weapon for were not such a high amount of time I wasn't able to grind a couple of days each for them.
During Endwalker, I wanted to get more of the Shadowbringers relics, and passively or actively pursue them. I got 6 more during that time, and in Dawntrail I have continued, getting 3 more. So I'm still not done all the Shadowbringers weapons, and I don't mind it. If I dedicated time, I could have them done in a few days. But it's nice to have a relic grind still going all these years later, the content is still meaningful to me. Meanwhile, I have all the Endwalker Relics, duty roulette completed them effortlessly before the expansion was over, without trying.
I had a friend who was determined to do all the Shadowbringers Relics when they were new, and he did it. He did say it was a crushing grind, but he was very proud of that accomplishment. I guess those kind of statements Square may had seen as complaints? I don't think it's a bad thing, if you really want all the weapons it should be such an accomplishment for effort. The issue with the way we're doing it now, as sure the initial accomplishment of the relic steps is great due to the grinds, we'll end up the same was as last time with all the relics done and the same lack of content longevity.

Could just give each duty a daily reset, so that you can only get an element from a duty once per day. That would force people that want to grind into many different duties that have the desired element.
