I can not change the Thread title but I would change it to:
New relic started great but is just another stupid tome grind.


Ive just started it but I really like the idea.

To run around in a hunt to get different materials feels so much better then just the crystal gamba we had before.

The items can be gathered by a non melded gatherer with 750 gear and you get more then enough from one node.
So I can sell the leftovers and get a bit of money.
And the prices will most likely drop to a couple hundred within just a week.

Crafting could have been a bit easier because you can not macro it with clean ilvl 750 gear.


Nice that they do something different. The repeating step with just the daily random roulette looks a bit disapointing. I would have prefered more options then just 4 daylies.
Especially for player like me who gains nothing from doing them, except for the relic now.
But time will tell how fast/ slow it is. It at least looks like it doesnt matter what job is used for it.

It seems like the daylie roulette farm is not the repeating step for the weapons but still for the one time only quest.
The repeating quest is apparently just a tome grind again.... Nice 1500 tomes again... how boring.

If it can help, the three craftable items can be bought on the marketboard. The prices have already dropped a ton (from ~2M when servers went live to 200k right now on my server). That is 600k plus the 300k item to buy from the vendor, less than 1M.

Some people will still complain - i've seen people with less than 50k to their name at level 100, i don't even know how that's possible, but they exist!

Giving an actual good reason for crafters/gatherers to actually use their skills and provide for people building relics is awesome. You don't have to make everything yourself, that's why we're in an MMO You grind gil, buy the item (or mats and talk to a crafter to make it). It's a win for combat oriented characters that have money to spare and crafters that have a goal to work towards.

I have to revise my opinion after finishing the first step. It's difficult to not get frustrated.
The quest design is basically do roulettes and after you finish this quest; do more roulettes.
Is this also part of the "cost", that we're getting useless quest designs?
Why not involve old content? Why not give me a reason to do old Extremes? Or Eureka? Or Bozja?
Why not revive Ishgard Restoration? Why not include old beast tribes?


They could give so many new reasons to do old content, but they simple choose the cheapest option as an quest objective.
What a fatal mistake. We're already doing roulettes every effing day.

They're people too, but I don't agree with their design choices and drip feed content.
