Biggest problem with the current Alliance Raid

I'm really enjoying the current Alliance Raid, but there's one thing that keeps bugging me, and it's a problem I've seen in other raids and dungeons too.

During the airship section, the transition from one ship to another makes no sense. The physics are completely out the window. Do we suddenly get a limited form of flight? How do we jump off one airship and perfectly curve through the air to land on another?

This isn't the first time we've suddenly gained superpowers. We used to just fall from crazy heights into water, but now there are plenty of dungeons where we fall from a height that should, at the very least, break our knees or reduce our HP, and we're totally fine.

I'm all for dynamic transitions, and I get that it's a fantasy game, but let's not stretch our suspension of disbelief for no reason. Why not give us a little glider for the airship part? Or add an updraft, a pool of water, or even a trampoline to cushion our falls in dungeons? I mean, we spent a whole expansion learning to breathe underwater in Stormblood, so the least they could do is give us a little trampoline.

That's an interesting "Biggest problem", the "explanation" we're giving is jumping into air currents and riding them to the next airship. Except for the one mid-fight where we fairly logically abandon ship and conveniently have another ready to land on.

Okay but like birds can ride air currents. Not people. No matter how much you wave your hands around, you will just fall straight down.

nah the moment everything had flight mount wise, all lore logic went out the window in this game.

The alliance raid just feels like FFXI as directed by Micheal Bay. Just treat it as an action movie showing off how the average person on Vana'Diel thinking that is how The Adventurer stopped Juno's archdukes plans. Of course he can jump out of airships and survive, he bested the shadow dragon and defeated the shadow lord!

My problem with it, I cant take it seriously. Its the same lame "AI guys its AI our theme is AI" from MSQ where they try to make you care for a bunch of revitalized memories and not actual characters.
Probably having to admit that FFXI is another shard so its kept really vague.

FFXI has a goddess, this game is allergic to any deities, everything had to be Ascians.

Fights are cool though. Story is irrelevant

Is that the biggest problem to you? :T

    To me is the storyline.

It feels like I'm watching a movie divided by 2 commercials (even patches), because the part 1 and 2 storyline doesn't really have any big moments. Pretty much like Endwalker's too.

Also, bothers me that the raids themselves are really just something "extra" to serve as background. What is the purpose of those raids? AFAIK the only relevant event that happened going into those fights was getting Prishe. The Shadow Lord, or the last boss from the 2nd installment could be literally anything from FFXI and would make no difference. Prishe aside, if you skipped those raid encounters, it wouldn't change a lot because the important events of the plot are all resolved in cutscenes outside of the raid.

I don't remember it being this way for Shadows of Mhach, Ivalice or even Nier - all of the raids there had a pretty definite purpose, even when the last boss felt like filler. It always ended on a high note.

They have stopped bothering with any explanation for a lot of optional content by now. Myth of the Realm had the Twelve tell us "just come fight us lol" for 3 alliance raid patches just because they had to make 3 alliance raids with fights.

And to add insult to injury for that one, if you haven't played XI, you have no fucking idea what this is all about unlike the Twelve. Feels like I'm being forced into the skin of a story skipper.

Yeah... Feels like shallow fanservice of FFXI to me, since I didn't play it. If they want to reference other titles - and I personally don't mind whey they do - they got to add a more cohese line of context, something that allows player fruition without having played the source material, which YoRHA (which I also didn't play), also being extremely referential and fan-servicey, does.
