logging onto alt causing crash

Logging onto my main (Rose, lvl 100) has had no issues, but my two alts (lvl 20 and 17) will crash the game the moment I click ok to log onto them.

The screen goes mini mode and an "Unexpected error" message pops up.

Only happens for those two alts. No problem creating a new character and playing (so far).

Granted they are low level and I can just delete them. My worry is is that if I make another character what is stopping the error from happening to my main?

I don't run apps and have Discord disabled so nothing is running in the background. Uninstalled and reinstalled as well as updated all drivers. I've seen similar posts from a year or two ago, but reversed and it's the main crashing. No resolution from those either.

Other than that the game runs perfect.

If this is only affecting a few characters, then it may be something to do with your locally-saved settings. Go to 'My Documents' > 'My Games' > 'Final Fantasy XIV' and delete that folder. If there are any corrupted files that are associated only with those characters, this will get rid of them.

If this does not solve the issue, try updating your graphics card drivers and doing a clean boot. To do a clean boot simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC. This will ensure that no background processes are interfering with the game.
