

Lifelong Trek fan here. It's less about "money doesn't exist" as some kind of political statement, and more about post-scarcity improvment of the human condition, as Carin said. As Captain Picard said in Star Trek: First Contact,You said it best yourself. They are entitled to their opinion outside work. So I do not understand what you have a problem with.
That said, political influences make it into creative works. I think Star Trek abolished money or something like that. Just need to remember that it's fiction and to not take it seriously.
