Relic weapon quest reset

I'm currently on A Relic Reborn quest for my 2nd relic the Sphairai, I got to the stage of spirit binding the weapon, when it reached 100% I went back to the quest NPC Gerolt and he is now asking me to choose a new relic weapon quest. After looking at the journal all the quest information has been reset. so I assume somehow all the quest progress has been reset and no i did not abandon the quest from the menu.
I know have the unfinished Sphairai 100% spirit bind but nothing i can do with it.

Tried to hand in the Unfinished Sphairai @100% spiritbind to progress with the quest A Relic Reborn, and the NPC Gerolt started to ask me to accept a new relic quest instead of progressing with the one i was on, the journal log had also been reset after talking to him to the beginning of the quest, I still have the unfinished Sphairai in my inventory.

I mean the 2nd relic weapon, first was Gae Bolg.
