I can't say how it is for other people, but I do not have the ability to see images in my head. I can't imagine, I can't picture things, there is nothing. Not a complaint, but it does cause some issues. One of which becomes apparent to me during a video game.

This can make navigating in a video game very difficult because there is no real way to store the information you are seeing. I can't store a bird's eye view of the area so I can't get around very easily without the aid of a mini-map, I just plain get lost or turned around pretty easily. The mini-map in game is great, but it has so many features that could be better enjoyed with something like an interactive map that is accessible via the companion app.

I often like to run around the game with my map open so I can better see what the terrain up ahead is and how to get around large obstacles but it isn't a lot of fun spending a lot of the time with a map covering a third of the screen opened up. I have often wished I could move the map to my second screen but no such luck. But then I got to thinking about the companion app and how it can be used to address such a feature.

First off, the cost has to come from somewhere and given the companion app already has a paid version, it seems a good feature to add to that pay wall. It could be a good way to get more people to be willing to pay a monthly subscription in addition to what is already paid monthly.

Overall, I think the map should be able to work pretty much like the main map we have now, but on your phone or tablet. It would track your location in real time, be able to drop and remove pins, NAVIGATE, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if this idea has been offered up a few times before but I would really love to see something like this. It would really make life a lot easier, when it comes to this game.
