    Blue Mage Hopes for 7.5

I don't think the devs are looking for ideas? But maybe other people want to show some Blue Mage appreciation! We'll see in a year if any of my hopes came true.

    1. I want to meet the Whalaquee. And it's fine if this is the end of the BLU job quests. All of my "real jobs" stopped getting job quests awhile ago.

    2. The next BLU update must not be the last one! I know Beastmaster is coming. But I hope Blue Mage continues to get the minimum every expansion. Raise the level cap by 10, let us into more duties, add those new duties to the blue log, and add the typical BLU achievements. Hopefully we can also get some new skills every expansion? No plot or quests necessary. Just silently expand the spellbook with 10-20 more "???" for me to collect.

    3. I want to fight Martyn in the Masked Carnivale as a blue mage. Again, if this is the last Masked Carnivale fight, okay. Or maybe BLU and Beastmaster can share the Masked Carnivale? And I can do each new fight as both?

    4. Blue Limit Break. I know who I should learn it from - Elidibus. And since the devs suspiciously skipped "Blue Seat of Sacrifice" in Endwalker I suspect they've had a plan all along.
4b. Diamondback should count as tank LB3 for scripted purposes. Diamondback is twice as strong as tank LB3 anyway.

    5. Let me solo duties in the Blue Log if I do it synced. I've done The Grand Cosmos and I think most dungeons are possible solo with interesting strategies.

    6. Blue relics. The one "blue relic" we have is obtained from a savage criterion which BLU can't even do! Maybe the Blue Log can award a shiny funny weapon this time instead of a title? We've run out of titles to say "This Player Likes Blue".

    7. Let BLU (or both future limited jobs) into Deep Dungeons, Ultimates, and Criterions. If you must, completely overwrite the rewards and make new achievements. Just let it be possible. (Deep Dungeons may be asking too much?)

    8. Basic Instinct should be changed from a spell into a passive that just simply works when the conditions are met. Or, if requiring it to take up space in the spellbook is important, then make it a "stance" like Aetheric Mimicry that doesn't "fall off" even while changing instances.

Agree with all of those! I'll add my wishlist that is not the dead horse of "Let BLU be a normal job", because I don't feel that's ever going to happen, at least not anytime soon.

    1. Introduce a tankbuster mitigator that is oGCD. Tanking as a Blue Mage is a real struggle because every mitigator has a cast time built in. You need to know some fights on a gcd basis, which is kinda nuts, so you won't be caught with your global rolling when a buster happens.

    2. Introduce a substitute for Moon Flute (shared recast time) for the next spell batch. I get that spell is the 'big thing' for DPS Blue Mages because it's their own burst window. I know how to use it well and all, but I just feel that its design of not letting you act for 15 whole seconds is just bad. Even if Waning Nocturne turned you into a voidsent with a weak limited action (like in the PotD), it would be more exciting than just running around.

    3. Aetherial Mimicry need to be moved as the spell objective for an early BLU quest. The spell is just too important to be as optional as it is. Also just make it cycle if you use it without a target.

    4. Add in a BLU daily roulette (with the entries in the BLU log) with Heliometry/Mathematics rewards if done at the level cap. Aetherial Mimicry flags you as the role you register with... If you deactivate the role, you'd need to have it up again in order to enter the duty (like how it is when you swap to a different job). I just want to have something "ready to play" when I log, instead of waiting 2-3h for a PF group to fill in for a mere dungeon that nobody is looking for.

    5. Move the search function to the outside of the filter menu. Just a QoL thing to find spells faster.

    6. Make Loom instant cast. A movement tool with a cast time just feels wrong and clunky to use. The only thing that could justify it would be at least the double of the distance travelled.

    7. Add in BLU to the PVP roster. Really, it doesn't even need its own PVP mode. Every job is drastically changed to PVP, including their job fantasies (sometimes for the better), so I don't see a reason why BLU couldn't. A cool idea, besides a few basic spells, it's Aetherial Mimicry being reworked into copying an action from another job on your team or the enemy team.

    8. BLU into Deep Dungeons as a solo endeavor. With its own achievement, scoreboard and for the sake of balance, and locked into an exclusive spellbook per dungeon. You start with a 3-4 spells and the rest you fill as you go from common enemies, bosses or silver chest totem drops. Starts with PotD, and each BLU update adds in a new Deep Dungeon.

    9. Move BLU's Update to x.2.5. Nothing much to say here, but would be nice to have it earlier in the expansion, since there's very little optional content until 1 year in. Plus, BST can be the limited job living in the second half (but not as far as the x.5.5 patch, really).

    10. Let me do NG+ as a Blue Mage.

#1 - tankbuster mit. Big yes. I think all 8 regular tanks and healers have a strong single target mit? Usually as an ability with a 60s cooldown. Blue needs one too. I think we're supposed to use Cactguard for now? But that's still a 1s cast, a mere 6s duration, and it cannot target yourself. Sometimes when soloing things I have to resort to Diamondback, which is overkill. Diamondback should be for "tank LB3" moments or when the boss goes untargetable to do their big phase transition move.

#6 - big yes on instant Loom. Unfortunately, spells seem to be bucketed into two rigid categories: 'spells' with a cast time, MP cost, and no cooldown. And 'abilities' with never a cast time or MP cost, but instead with a cooldown. Loom needs to be an ability that costs MP instead of having a cooldown. Or an instant spell. But the game as we know it just can't do that. Maybe "Infinite Loom" as movement tech might also be bad for the game? Maybe we should just learn En Avant instead?

#8 - DEEP BLUE. Yes! Too bad the title is already in use. But that'd be so good.

I agree with all of these. I just added my own thoughts to a few.

I don't think infinite Loom would be much of an issue, really. BLU already have some broken actions anyway... Or they could just add a 10s recast time to it. Or maybe they can leave the cast time but make a 30y teleport range.

I like it. Make Loom a 10y dash like En Avant, but give it a 30-40s cooldown. And keep the ground targeted aspect of it. That would make it unique.

I thought of something else to hope for. It's not for me, it's not something I want, but it's something I keep hearing. The Omega Blue and Bluetopia (Eden) achievements need mounts, retroactively. I'm currently helping some friends get ready for Morbol attempts. But even though we haven't started yet they're already not interested in anything "after the Morbol". And in unrelated community discussions I still hear that people are bitter over the decision to put what was obviously the BLU Eden mount in the cash shop. I only 25% agree with the speculation in italics, but it doesn't matter if it is true if it's how people feel.

If changing achievements retroactively is a problem then make new ones. Maybe all BLU mounts should require 6 fights anyway? So make a new achievement called "Alpha Blue" that requires O3, O7, and O11. Then make another achievement that requires both Alpha Blue and Omega Blue for the mount. And that mount could just be the Model O mount with a blue mage mask on. It'd be funny and low effort! And I think that's all that's needed. Maybe Pandaemonium could award a Proto Carbuncle mount? Again, just a reskin of an existing mount, but I'm okay with that. I just want people to play BLU content and I think the mounts are important for that.
