Parsing is the root of all evil in high end content and we cannot allow people to do that anymore. Time to ban it SE! Strike fear into their hearts while the iron is hot from the other ban!

Incorrect. WoW is officially adding a damage meter to Midnight, more like get with the times.

Nice rage post, when you do High End content we will discuss that.
Lea.
You are never going to ban parsing, just make it part of the default UI/Features of the game so ppl stop having to rely on mods for it.
It would be a good tool to have for self improvement.
Instead of using third party tools, or 'relying' on it, how about leaving feedback on the duty recorder? That has far more potential to help parties find out what is causing the road blocks. Maybe add more duties in it and add more info in the replay. Best of both worlds. No need to rely on numbers when you can just watch everyone's performance, and it would be less work for SE (hence cheaper and more possible to be implemented).
I say do it.
People here seem to suddenly have a fixation with the ToS, so all of this should be OK and perfectly fine.
The numbers are necessary because there's tight DPS checks, so parsing is useful, and having a parsing community of people competing with each other keeps the the endgame with something to do once you're done with the hardcore tiers.
For competition, sure numbers matter, but the post I replied to was about personal improvement, and the best answer for that is the duty recorder since it will have more data than just your damage numbers, like seeing which abilities are being used at what time, if they slide casted or cancelled the cast. For self improvement, the duty recorder is better. For sweaty 'hardcore' people who need a number to feel good about themselves, yeah parsing would work.
Numbers don't lie and are far more useful. I think it would be just as "cheaper and more possible to implement" to just do what a mod can do already.
Tell me how a parse is better than a more in depth duty recorder that shows the play by play, each attack done or cancelled, where people stood (I.E. did they get snapshotted, did they just not move in time?) all of this can't be done by a parse, you just see x took y damage from z at xx:yy. Not where the individual was at, were they at flank or behind? A lot of missing info with just text logs. The full duty recorder would have a lot more to it and it's already a feature, so you aren't asking for anything new, just expansion on an already used feature. Not rocket science.
