Proposal: Official Community Workshop for FFXIV

Hello, and thank you to the FFXIV team for your incredible work.

I would like to propose the creation of an official Community Workshop system within FFXIV. Many players currently use third-party tools and mods to express their creativity, but this is outside the Terms of Service and creates risks for players. At the same time, it represents lost potential for Square Enix.

With an official Workshop, players could submit creations (outfits, hairstyles, weapons, furnishings, etc.) to be reviewed and approved by Square Enix.
- Players would gain a safe and legal way to express creativity, see their work in the game, and perhaps receive symbolic rewards (for example: a MogStation discount or one free subscription month if their design is chosen).
- Square Enix would benefit by saving development time, gaining new premium content, and ensuring that all creations are safe, appropriate, and legally owned by Square Enix.

Examples already exist in other games:
- The Sims 4 (EA + CurseForge)
- Skyrim/Fallout (Bethesda Creation Club)
- ARK: Survival Evolved & Minecraft (Workshop/Marketplace)

This idea could bring FFXIV even closer to its community, empowering creative players while supporting Square Enix’s business model.

I have so many ideas for hair and outfit designs. I understand that it'd be a lot for staff to sift through but I feel like the contests are so far apart. Having something like this would let the devs be more in touch with the playerbase and what they want to see in the game, if only for a general consensus like style by seeing what the most popular submissions are.

They do regularly hold design contests, although SE still create it. They've held design contests for all those things I think, at least Outfits, Weapons and Hair and I vaguely remember Furniture being based on them?

It would be simple for them to let people submit to github because it has a really good review/approve/decline system.

Could this work? If so, I completely support it. I don't really see why it wouldn't work, to be honest, especially if a complex contract is written up or something. Either way - agreed. They already have competitions and the like, stuff like this would bring more to the game with little work for them.
